Experience with upgraded supercharger intercooler

Has anyone done any changes to their intercooler here? Stock E55 has the intercooler with bypass valve. The CLK DTM and Sl55 till 2002 had a longer intercooler without bypass valve. It would be interesting to see differences in IATs and road times (100-200kph/ 60-130mph between the stock intercooler and the non bypass intercooler or aftermarket intercooler. I think vrp offered a modified one and I've see Moscow supercharge having one to offer on their Instagram page. I'm quite curious what the change in IATs and boost pressure would be.

Greetings from Germany

This place is a joke.
Aftermarket intercoolers have been vaporware for 17 years. It's been talked about ad-naseum since then, and here we go yet again.

I already run the Pierburg CWA100 and will be replacing the cooler with a beefier one. Just curious what diffence a different intercooler would bring in IATs and street times.

I had a 99 SVT lightning that was very similar as far as SC setup and packaging. the Lightning guys never did much with the actual intercooler, they just upgraded the blower itself.

Only option is the Whipple 2,9L, but i can't use that here in Germany, cause there is no way to get it TÜV approved unfortunately.

Technischer Überwachungsverein (TÜV) can make your life miserable. That said, what quickly draws their attention are loud exhausts, extreme wheels, tinted windows, obvious ride height changes, or obvious mechanical/safety issues. This can result in the car being immediately impounded. I doubt that a supercharger change would be noticed during a biannual inspection as long as the emission tests meet required specs. I operate 2 cars in Germany; one registered in Germany and the other registered in the U.S. The U.S. E55 is only there for about 6 months/year and because it's registered in Florida, it has only a rear license plate. this makes the Polizei nuts, but I carry a copy of the Florida statute that actually prohibits front plates. Generally speaking, in Germany, If the paperwork is correct, they won't bother you. I even had one cop say to me that the car really looks much better without the front plate.

Yeah tüv is a pain in the ***, when modifying here. Running a Whipple without tüv would be quite risky. The intercooler is not visible, so it wouldn't be as risky. I'd like to test the MSC intercooler and see for myself, what difference it would make, compared to the stock one with bypass valve. The stock one from the Sl55 pre 2002 costs about 2000€ and is way to expensive, to just test.

Btw in what part of Germany do you reside?

I put a metal plate on the hole and secured it with the 4 screws. Mpg gets worse without the bypass valve. Boost increases a tiny bit, but nothing noticeable. I think it's at 0. 7-0. 8 bar now. The car does feel snappier though without the bypass, meaning it feels more aggressive in lower rpms.
