I was expecting the common stuff pano roof motor, the air supension, trans conductor plate/plug...
Maybe by babying the car and not driving often enough ( to keep low millage) might have advance the blower motor/resister issue it's 16 year old if it still original.

Fcpeuro has video and kit replacement the blower motor for w211 with lifetime warranty https://www.fcpeuro.com/Mercedes~Ben.../Blower-Motor/

I had the original blower motor go out on my 2002 GMC Sierra. Granted it just quit and didn’t catch fire or anything thank god. The only sign that it was near the end of its life was my dash voltage meter would oscillate when turning on the motor.
I wonder if rodents could of gotten in and started chewing wires before your fire. I had them chew the firewall off my trucks hood and some of it between the engine. I checked all the wiring and didn’t find any damage done by them.

Last winter my blower motor bearings started making noises. So back in February, I had it changed out, as it had become more noisier as time went on.
I don't know if this could have led to a possible fire or not, but I'm unfortunate not to have found out.

Mine squeaks a little at lower speeds and pretty much has since I bought it in June 2020. Hasn't gotten worse, hasn't gone away. I was kind of waiting for it to get worse because functionally everything seems fine and normal, just a little annoying squeaking at times. Am I really putting my car at risk by living with this until it gets obviously worse?

True dat! One time I was doing a custom turbo Miata build and I budgeted 6 weeks and $3,000. 2 years and 8 weeks later plus $8,000 I finally finished it. Only to find some of my best laid plans did not work out and I had to put more time and money into it to fix what I'd screwed up. One reason why I now try to push the "easy button".

In this situation, I would look for an e55 with a popped motor or 300,000 miles on it that I could buy relatively inexpensively, and then perform a drivetrain and suspension swap.

Heck, OP, if you decide to sell, I would be interested in purchasing the engine and transmission to swap into my current e55 it is about to roll 202,000 miles.

I found a few high millage 180k+ e55 but all wanting $11k+, not worth it at that price plus an engine swap extra 2-3k more. Starting to think parting it out or selling whole car as-it .
Just testing the water how much 62k mile engine/trans worth?

If you are questioning how to fix this problem in this particular car with this problem you definitely need to get rid of it. This repair is way above your skill level. Get some plastic and gorilla tape and seal the car up like that

I have my personal donor car if you want?

Hey my man I have an 04 E55 AMG Designo edition sitting in my garage. I had my engine bust so I think its best to take that and swap your engine in it! I also have alot of upgrades within the vehicle already so I think it would be your best option and to save that engine (soul) for a new body. Let me know what you think and we can talk quick on a price for ya!

Great I will call/text you about prices.

Question for everyone:
I was quoted around $4000 for an e55 amg engine swap from an nearby Mercedes indy shop is that fair price? seem a bit high for me but this is my first amg swap.
I found a car transport company that quoted $1,820 from CA to MD (westcoast to eastcoast) price seem fair?

Last year in June 2020, I paid $1,550 for a car to be shipped in a covered transport from the Portland, OR area to Northern Virginia. This was just a week or so into the slow reopening following the country wide lock-down due to Covid-19. Before that re-opening, the bids were running about half that amount. .

They usually charge much more for non running cars as they are a hassle to load and unload. The non runner has to be the last on transport and first off, or forklift loaded and unloaded, which you don’t want. 1800 is about the going price for this trip for a running car.
As for the swap, since not too many people want to work these days, the sky is the limit on this. You can sell the rest of your car for probably $3 to 4 thousand and probably the core engine and trans with supercharger for $1000 or more.

Yeah I think your best bet is getting the engine swapped into that shell from California, pulling the dash off is a complete pain in the *** I think swapping the engine would be wise. You can still part out what you got left on your burnt e55 and get some good money back or just keep it for parts. The suspension sells for good money

thing did not work out for the pop engine car in cali the non running car transport from CA to MD cost too high made it less of a deal. Oh well I will keep looking maybe find one near my area. my budget for donor car+engine swap 7k-8k sound fair? I have got a few people interest in my engine so that a 2nd option. Where an 406k miles e55 when I need one like on youtube. Turn out it still running just fine.

Right now with the state of the used car market and labor rates your not going to get that done for that price. Maybe if you do it yourself, but a 400,000 mile e55 is going to need lots of work to get it where your 60,000 mile one was. I know you think it’s just as simple as switching parts, but I certainly sounds like you can’t do that on your own. At this point you are better off selling your car and taking the loss IMO. These weren’t especially abundant cars when new, so coming across one with a popped engine doesn’t happen frequently.

Save that car man. W211s are so common even the e55s you can get a parts car easily. The parts you need are likely gonna be in good shape on whatever you get.
