If the guy wants to fix it its totally doable.

Its a matter of cleaning it up and identifying what parts and wires it needs. its not quantum physics or rocket science.

You clearly don't have enough passion to save these cars so why are you in here knocking the guy down?

OP have someone bid on copart on a smashed e55 for you. They come up on there pretty often.

I've seen people save much worse things than this and this car is totally worth it.

I agree with this! my e55 I got it off of impact and it was in very bad condition I’ve spent months putting it back together, but these cars are so worth it. I’d take a w211 e55 over a newer c63 any-day these cars have lots of character. I fixed my beat up e55 with a parts e320, but maybe in your case get a parts e55. Just wait for the right one don’t rush

This car is so beyond fixing, I don't think you or the o.p. understand that. It's a total loss, meaning the cost to repair it exceeds what you could buy another one for. That's even assuming you could get the parts to do it, and you can't. If my 26 years of experience doesn't mean anything to you, that's on you. Go ahead and try fixing this car. You're an amateur.

Hi everyone, how rare is paint color midnight blue on E55 amg? It does appear dark blue under sunlight and black at night. couple pic of my car before the unfortunate event.
A few picture after the event I did clean up the car a bit while waiting for the right deal. I been checking on copart for e55 amg, any recommend which broker to use. Thanks everyone.

ok now looking at the photos/ reading comments, op is going to have to rip the whole interior out which is a days work depending on ur experience but I’ve ripped lots of these interiors out and the dash is by far the hardest part. Now reading all these comments say op is not mechanically inclined and needs a shop to do the work, so if that’s true I would just post it for sale get what you can from parts and run, let’s say op finds a parts car for 5k labour on the job he’s asking for wont be cheap, and no shop will want to do it for cheap as it’s a huge waste of time and no guarantees. I’d listen to e55 grease monkey as he helped me with some of my stupid questions and clearly knows his ****. Take the loss sell it for parts and buy a new one. I have the Capri blue as well I’m pretty sure it is the rarest colour they come in.

If the guy isnt capable of doing the work orm him self then that kind of damage is not worth fixing on any car unles its something super rare thats in the million dollar range.

Diy rippin the interior out on any benz from that era is not hard. Once that dash is out and cleaned up the damage probably wont be as bad as it seems.

That’s perfectly fine if he can do the work himself, please remember if you read he has a budget and even with that budget in mind it’s probably not doable if he does the work himself, which he doesn’t seem to want or can do.
Anything can be fixed, but fixing this is going to require labor and lots of it, not only to find the parts, but to remove and replace them. Hiring someone to do this will be expensive. Doing it yourself will be time consuming and expensive.

So if somebody is just talkin?

There are currently two e55s at Copart. One in Idaho one in Florida.

All I know is that if this was my car I wouldn't think twice about saving it.

Go to google and look up w211 dash removal. Aint much under there.
Also that seems to be a pretty rare color from what I've seen.

I'm not trying to be rude but you don't know what you're dealing with here. I'll give you something to think about first. What are you going to do about replacing the fire damaged body wiring harness? That is the first of many problems you have to solve to fix this car. Your'e looking at Google for advice, this repair is way beyond your scope of knowledge.

You know nothing about my knowledge.

Ill replace the body harness just like Id replace a wheel on the car or a broken sensor. Its the same concept lol. Its held in with clips and connectors. Its just another component of the car that's swappable

Trace it on the donor car and copy over to the original burned car. What's so complicated about this process?

How do people do it when the car is completely stripped down for an all color change for example? I don't rely on google. I've done complete teardowns on a Mercedes before. Its not as bad as you think.

Yes the harnesses are year and car specific with the options the car has. So you really may not be getting the harness you need unless it’s from tire year and model. The Mercedes is extremely finicky about electrical issues in stock form.
Will state again that this car can be fixed, as anything can, but given the budget and capability of the owner probably cannot be done. Buying a car on copart seems great, but by the time buy fees and shipping fees come into play it’s expensive.

The OP was given a chance to buy a clean title car with a bad engine, which is an easy swap. He declined because it was too much money to ship. Sit on the car long enough maybe he will find his unicorn close to him.

not saying much, but i can turn a wrench/bolt ... and can repair electrical wire and connector and get dirty. Just does not have the fancy mercedes diag/programer stuff.
Really bad time to buy used car specially amg car and with super high car transport fee. My work just allow work from home starting this week so I will have plenty of time to try thing.
I'm in no rush and still looking for a good deal. I might have some news later this week if thing go right.

Then why did you get a $4000 quote to change the engine? This is a straightforward procedure. Really one of the easier things to do in a Mercedes. Changing damaged wiring harnesses takes much more time and disassembly. Realistically the whole car will have to come apart to replace harness assemblies that are damaged.

Are your rear wheels mounted on the front?

the engine swap quote was to see how much shop will charge and was it a fair price just in case I do fine a donor e55 car.
But with a limited repair budget around 7-8k might not be enough. If I am going to spend 10k+ might as well buy another good running 55/63 amg.

Regarding the front wheel are from cls amg 18x9.5 rear wheel my front passenger stock amg cracked so i purchased 4 of the 18x9.5 to fit wider tire have not changed the other rim when this happen.
From what i read on this forum these stock amg wheel crack all the time, the w210 e55 amg mono block are forge and a lot stronger but I don't like their look.

Those pics don't look too bad at all. The car looks great in that color and the cls wheels are a great fit with the more aggressive offset. My brother runs those on his e55. He does run 285s in the rear which is slightly too aggressive. 275s would have been a better fit.

Anyways, once the burnt dash and all the other damaged parts in that area are removed, you have basically removed 90% of the damage.

To get to most of the harness all you gotta do is remove seats, some paneling and carpets and thats usually very easy to do. You'll want to remove these things anyway for proper cleaning and to get rid of the burnt smell.

Picture your car without that damaged dash and carpets in it. You'll have access to all the damage and most of it yo would have already removed by taking the dash out.
