Looking to buy a 2006 E55 AMG w/ 107k miles
I talked him down to 14k. Would like some feedback on whether or not that's a fair price. I know these cars are selling for more than their book value so looking to get some opinions.

Keep in mind, there are a number of things these cars typically need at this age/mileage. The records on CarFax are always complete or accurate. I would ask if the front struts have been replaced as well as the rear air springs. Other things such as intercooler water pump and transmission conductor plate are not uncommon to be needed. Plenty of other things it may or may not need. Be prepared to spend a bit on the car over its life.
I recently purchased a 2006 E55 with 128k on it. It had full records and was well looked after. I still ended up spending a bit of money on repairs (doing the work myself) and it can add up. I'm not trying to discourage you. Just things to think about. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat about it more.

If the intercooler water pump has never been changed I would plan on doing that some time soon as well. It runs around $130. You can check to see what the intake air temps are during cruise or hard acceleration to determine if it has failed yet. Mine was bad when I bought the car, but the previous owner didn't drive it hard enough to notice.

At that price, I would most definitely purchase it. As others have said, however, always keep a few thousand set aside for the unexpected. Keep up on the maintenance and the car will treat you well.
Ensure the owner has both key fobs and they both work. Assuming you can still get a replacement key fob, it will run close to $500. If replacement key fobs are not available then you are screwed if anything happens to yours. A single point of failure is not what you want.
You might as the owner if they still have the original wheels. Even if you like the current ones, the OEM wheels do have quite a bit of value.
fyi - new key fob at MB rochester ran me about $230 if i remember correctly. worth the peace of mind if it only comes with 1. MB manhattan wanted $700+ for one when i lived down there

I think the only time it gets tricky is if the car has had multiple new keys in its life and all slots are full. There may be 8? I am not sure what the protocol is but I'm sure it involves Star...
