Please Help Me Choose Aftermarket Parts

Not new to automotive performance, but I am new to the AMG world. I picked up an 04 E55 this winter. Right now, it's stock, but it looks like I'm picking up a RaceIQ TCU. I plan to get a pulley and belt, too. Also, has anyone had work done to the factory blower? We run PSI screw blowers on our race cars. There's lots of tricks to make them more efficient and push more air..

If you were starting out, what brands would you go with? For..

Long tube headers (best fitment)
Mufflers (Less raspy.. prefer the sound of good ol Flowmasters)
ECU with handheld or ability to plug into laptop to change tunes. Bonus if I can make adjustments myself.

Thank you!

Amanda Howe aka Puddin'

"Not new to automotive performance..." How's that for an understatement :-)

Welcome to the AMG world Puddin'! My recipe for success on my '04 was a set of American Racing longtube headers, with hi-flow cats, 77mm clutched supercharger pulley, 90mm TB, with a RaceIQ tune and a Forced Induction Interchiller Stage 2 kit. That should get you a very low 11-second 1/4 mile ET.

To make it hook, look for a Wavetrac or Quaife LSD and a set of 16" Hoosiers or Mickey's on some CLK320 forged wheels.

Good luck!

Not an E55 but similar platform: https://mbworld.org/forums/c219/7351...ld-thread.html. Pretty out of the box bolt on build thread with dyno charts.

I would recommend the mbh long tube headers their fit and finish is superior to all other long tube headers.

Thank you!! Is a LSD all these cars need to hook? Leave stock suspension? I know certain Chrysler/ Dodge ring and pinion fit our cars. Do their whole LSD? Hubby bought an 06 300 SRT8, and the similarities are pretty neat. We didn't know til we got the cars and started researching stuff.

I've only ran the car one night at the track on bald 500 Treadwetreadwear tires, and it ran 7.99 @ 90 or low 90s 1/8mi. Can't remember. 7.99 for sure. That's at a 1900' above sea level track, too.

That's pretty good time fastest I was able to do was 7.92 when I was 100% stock and with longtube headers and 3inch xpipe I ran a 7.68 these cars pick up good amount of power with longtubes.

on my hankooks v12 evo2s I've managed a low 1.7 60ft I'm on stock air suspension. I usually do a small burnout and have my suspension on lift and comfort this helps with the weight transfer to the rear end.

The LSD will help, but not as much as a set of drag radials. Here's an article I wrote on getting the "go-to" rear setup: https://stumptownbenz.com/hoosier-dr...ial-setup-e55/ I had zero traction issues (at the track) with the Wavetrac LSD on those 255/50-16 Hoosiers.

As far as parts interchangeability with the Chryslers, the R&P is interchangeable (215mm), but the cases tend to have different mounting ears so I don't think you can drop a whole unit in from a Chrysler. The Mercedes 722.6 transmission is basically the same thing as the Chrysler NAG1. You can get modified valve bodies, higher stall converters, and even a transbrake for them.

The only improvements you are likely to make in the rear suspension are urethane bushings and maybe camber arms if you want to less negative camber. Personally, I wouldn't bother unless your stock bushings are worn out, or if it eats tires (premature wear on the inside tread)

Welcome to the AMG gang What are your goals for the car? Do you want to make it a straight line rocket, or maybe make it a rather balnced fun car?

I just want to have some fun at the track with it, possibly jump into the Daily Driver class at No Prep Kings events. I'm aiming for at least another 100hp but not take away too much reliability. It's a kid/dog hauler, too.

if your only looking for about 100hp, I would suggest 77mm pulley, belt wrap kit, longtube headers, XL exchanger, secondary exchanger, updated bosch pump and tune should get you really close to the 100hp you are looking for all while still being reliable.

once you push past this you are looking at upgrading injectors, throttle body, stacked pulleys, even more cooling etc and that is when you might start pushing the reliability.
