New OEM fuel pump question
I have ordered 2 new xxx470000 fuel pumps to go in my 2004 E55.I believe this will have originally had the A2114701794 fuel pumps .Will the updated fuel pumps go inside my original fuel pump basket and connect straight up or will it need some additional new connectors etc ? Tia

You replace everything. While your hands and arms are soaked in gasoline. Three bars on the fuel gauge at the maximum or you run the risk of fuel spilling out of the tank.
And the 211-470-00-00 part number is a set of dual fuel pumps. You must use the third-gen fuel filter/regulator with it plus adapter cables. See my answer in your other post.
-211-470-00-00 Fuel Delivery Module (dual pumps) $411
-211-470-64-94 Tank Inner Module (actually filter and regulator) $489
-211-471-05-79 Fuel Sender Seal x 2 $34
-211-440-05-07 Cable Harness adapter for filter/regulator $15
-211-540-07-00 adapter cable to dual fuel pumps $15
-203-997-04-81 foam cushion $1

Old pumps:
New pumps:
It's a tight fit and takes some maneuvering; you have to put the pumps in one at a time and then assemble the pair in the tank. Pay attention before you disassemble. Tie a *long* length of paracord to the lines when you disconnect from the fuel pumps. When you pull out the filter/regulator, the line comes with it. Tie the paracord around the new filter/regulator lines and pull the lines over the saddle hump while installing the filter/regulator. Pay attention to the orientation of the fuel level float! Do not get it wedged against the walls of the tank or you're going to have to do it all over again. Installing the top hat on the fuel pumps is an exercise in patience/frustration. Strong springs, critical alignment, keep the rubber seals straight (KY jelly helps to smooth the insertion), and hold down while attempting to install the plastic ring to hold the top hat into the tank. I've done it three times. Twice easy, once I spent a couple of hours trying to get it right. All while working with a tank that still has some fuel in it. Needless to say, I do this outside and not in my garage.
Be sure to check the relay on the fuel filler cap side of the car. It is hidden under the trunk panel which must be removed for access.

Does this also apply for a 2005 CLS55?

I have all the parts ordered as per Bbirdwell helpful post..but can some confirm if the fuel pump in picture one is fact the A2114700000 as I'm sure not any of the new connectors / adaptors I have will connect to this ( or if they're actually supposed to ?)
I Was told that the updated fuel sender will not fit the old pumps due to different connectors, but it doesn't look like these will fit either ? Need help desperately!

So it looks like the. 2 fuel pumps connect with a 2 pin connector as per my pump and the image below then into a 3 pin which I presume then connects to the fuel sender on left side, and I have this 3 pin, so I presume all is well .

The two pin connector with the blue wires on the fuel pumps is for the float level sensor. The filter/regulator has the two-wire connector that plugs into it. Both float sensor signals will come out of the five-pin connector on top of the filter/regulator. The three-pin connector on the filter/regulator (that uses the 05-07 adapter cable) provides the signal for the fuel tank vapor pressure sensor. Old vapor pressure sensor was white; new sensor is black with a different connector.
Following is just for grins and giggles:
