Installed Sirius Antenna (smaller version) Pics

I just got the MBZ factory Sirius unit installed like others on the board. The problem I had was I hated that large older antenna and also have tinted windows so I couldn't do the stealth install under the deck lid.

Mercedes still uses the old Sirius double output antenna wire so I got the Terk adapter the goes from the double wire to single and was able to use a much smaller antenna. I had to mount it on the roof because the tint on my rear window killed the reception and the antenna didnt look good IMO on the trunk.

Looks very good, exact same install as mine, on the roof in front of the Tele aid antenna.

There is a member here who used an XM antenna for his Sirius unit. The frequencies are off a bit but he said it worked OK. Just wanted to see if others had done it.

Yes I use the Terk Xmicro antenna. It works fine w/my Sirius radio. I have no problems so far. The reason I did not use the Terk Sirmini(made for Sirius) antenna is the requirement of: "The selected site must have a conductive surface area (e.g. a metal roof or trunk lid) of at least 2 square feet and be at least 5.5 inches (the length of the antenna's "tail") from the rear window molding". There is no minimum tail length requirement of the Terk Xmicro's antenna.

Here's two spots that Randall at AutoWerks came up with. One is rather custome and needs some paint as it is cut in to the grill. The other is probably even better up in the mirror cover.

Carlos,

How is the stealth install on your SIRIUS antenna doing? Any problems with the reception?

We went to the LA Auto Show yesterday and loved listening to the satellite programming, but they had the noticeably large antenna (unpainted) bolted to the trunk lid of a silver E55.

I'd be interested in your experience.
