Hello all,
So I've been in the look-out for a E55 AMG for a while now and have seen a 2003 variant pop up here in BC, Canada. From what I can tell, this car has been on sale since July, 2022 and still not sold which to me is very surprising as it is very low kms (38k kms and decently specced. Anyways, I messaged the seller and got the usual CarFax report. Unfortunately, that report showed no service history so I asked the sales advisor who said that there are none available and the car has had 2 owners. I ran a VIN check on it with the help of one of my friends and it shows that the car was regularly serviced by a local MB dealer up until 2008 and no records thereafter.
So I guess what I'm looking for here is some advice and curious to see what you guys think I should do? Is this car still worth perusing given that it still has not sold and no history of service since 08, if so, what should I look out for? FYI, it was originally listed at $44k but price dropped to $38k Canadian.

Did you contact the local dealer if that story is true?
Also, are you able to go take a look? That way you can verify if your feeling about the car is right

All services are recorded in the CGW (Central GateWay) so long as one uses the Flexible Service System. The services can be pulled up using Assyst Plus-Plus in the STAR/Xentry diagnostic system. Possible that the tech performing the services did not bother to update the service schedule but then you would end up with a "Service Overdue" message on the instrument cluster.
How to get there using STAR/Xentry:
Go to:
-Information and Communication
-Assyst Plus - Plus
-General Servicing
-Service Memory

I'd avoid any '03 if possible.

I understand the first-year issues (learned the hard way with a first-year Ford Aerostar puchased used in Germany. Nothing like losing the harmonic balancer on a roadway in Britain on a holiday weekend... Originally Posted by E55Greasemonkey

).What issues do you see with the 2003? Seriously curious as you have seen them in the shop over the years. If I had my druthers I would go for a 2006 yet must be satisfied with my 2005...

38k seems WAY to much, IMO, even for low mile car. Its 20 years old. Am I missing something here?
Are you talking about this car:

I don't service any of my cars at the dealerships. He probably went to a indie shop locally. That won't show up on any records.
BTW, hello from Edmonton.
