Don't think i'll ever hit the limit

I've been on bit of a "speed" mission lately, trying to see how fast I can go. Roads and traffic around here make it very difficult. But, after doing the Renntech upgrade knowing that my 155 limiter had been pushed to 187 i've been curious. I have been using the Robert Moses Causeway bridge as a pretty good place to run. Certainly, no cops on the bridge and no summer beach traffic. But still, the cars are still out there. Did a couple of runs at 130. So, today I went over the bridge made a right onto Ocean parkway and drove for a few miles, checking for cops and traffic. No cops and almost no cars. Made a u-turn and floored it. Before I knew it I was at 156 (I actually had a camera in the car and would have loved to get a pic of the speedo, but not at those speeds!). The car was still accumulating speed at a frightening rate. The road surface on the ocean parkway is not great though, with some undulations and kinda bumpy which made things a little squirrely. At those speeds anything but a perfect pavement is just to dangerous. With some of the dips in the road, any faster I think I would have taken off. Makes me wonder if this car is "safe" at those speeds, aerodynamically speaking. Not to mention tires, etc. I can't imagine going another 30 mph, but there was still plenty of room between my right foot and the floor.

What exactly is included in the Renntech stage 1? How did they raise the limit? I thought you could only do that through AMG back in Germany.

The stage 1 kit includes new crankshaft pulley, re-programmed ECU, and K & N air filters (have not installed) The ECU will remove the stock speed limiter as will kits from all the major tuners. Renntech, Kleemann, EVO, etc.

Street racing is illegal
and so is going roughly 4 times the speed limit lol
Yeah, late at night is probably the only time, but I would think it would be a little hairy at those speeds in the dark! I wasn't racing. You think that would matter to the cop LOL. I am as careful as I can be. I'll even pull over and make sure all cars are past me, although you catch up to them fairly quickly! I was thinking of getting a few friends and have one "park" at one on ramp of the LIE out east and have another on the next on ramp watching for cops and other traffic. Late at night you might be able to ensure NO ONE else is on the road and no cops. Could be done. Set up a conference call, be on your cell and let me know when the coast is clear!

would I do the Renntech over again? I don't know. I might find something else to do with 5K. It helps, but it's not like it transforms the car or anything.
