Search is your friend. For a W210 but the process is similar. And yes, it is a PITA to get the headliner out of the car through the door. Next time I would be tempted to remove the windshield...
I feel your pain, my friend, as I have noticed that back, right corner is starting to come off/separate in my 06 W211 E55. Now I'm on a search for "how to" DYIs. Not much useful video info on YouTube. Everything I've seen is that people are replacing and not repairing their original headliners. Which brings up a question: where to find a color code chart for Mercedes, what fabrics and where to find the fabric itself? So far my search came up empty. 😞

Following this thread...
Search EPC by your vehicle's VIN for the part number for the headliner. That part number will have a suffix attached that indicates the color code. Been a few years since I replaced the headliner and all of the plastic bits but I remember finding a table that listed the color codes versus the name of the colors (e.g. 7D05 = Dove Gray). I found it easier to just remove the headliner, sun roof panel, plus A/B/and C pillars and take them to a quality upholstery shop to get as close a match as possible. Beware of thick foam backings! Thin is in or alcantera which has effectively no foam backing.
Below is a photo of the part number on the original headliner from my W210. "Farbe" translates as "Color". 7E66 is the part number suffix for that color.
Not sure if the Headliner in your 320cdi is similar to that of my 2007 E63 Panoramic Headliner, but after removal of A/B/C Pillars, Handals, Rear View Mirror & SunVisors, I am still stuck trying to figure out how to release the HL. I have been told that I first need to release the front part which is mounted via its metal lip being hung up along the front sun view edge. Similarly though is the same with the Rear Views most rear edge. It too is hung up (see my picture from a Scope) on that rear most edge. I positioned the Scope coming in from the Side, by the top of door peering in to the Corner Edge of the rear Sun Roof Corner. However, as you can see in the picture, that rear edge is just resting and it appears there’s maybe 3/4” it may be able to be moved backwards, that is, if I can pry the front lip backwards enough to clear the Front. Then after getting the front released, presumably the rear edge will slide forward to release, but then there are apparently Clip(s) as well as Velcro on each side towards the very rear. Upon install, I imagine it would be those Clips to be inserted first, then jamming the rear edge up into place then sliding it rearward enough to ultimately get the front lip into its front edge cradle, it will then slide a bit forward, then restick the Velcro in the rear followed by A/B/C Pillars etc. But, Alas, I am still trying…. then I can get the HL Redone, install my stereo, Amp Deck, 2nd Battery, Folding Mirrors, Newer Headlights, Seats, Floors, Window Tint in Rear (already did doors) This is the Headliner(s) Rear Most Sun View Edge as seen from the Side with my Scope stuck above the HL towards the Rear Corner. This Metal Edge has room to move rearward after releasing the front side first, apparently as WIS is useless! Then the are Clips that, I think, have to be attached first/ released last!
Ok, I just released the Headliner yesterday by using a Flathead Screwdriver with a couple plastic wedges on my Panoramic Roof 2007 E63. You see, that front edge of the Headliner is suspended from the Panoramic Roof Frames Cross structure both across the Front Sun View window as well as the Rearmost Cross section of the the Rear View window. I had not yet unplugged the wiring, so I used a garbage bag to wrap those sticky taped wiring leads after zip tying them together. I first used needle nose pliers to get hold of the Wiring Loom Holding Mount Loop which secure the Wiring behind the Antenna Amp Driver Side. You pinch the Center pieces in order to remove each as they naturally expand in the hole once inserted.
By using the Screwdriver, I simply put the Head flat up against the HL at the Corner of the Sun View Opening looking from above, then once I got a piece the of HL beyond the 1/4” lip of the front Sunview Edge, I placed a small plastic wedge to maintain the gap made and proceeded across to the middle, then whilst keeping the middle wedge in place, moved the Screwdriver to the other corner and Viola, that front edge finally released! Now it will be suspended entirely from its rear edge and, since it was essentially moved rearward 1/4” to clear the front edge, its rear edge needs to be pulled forwards to release that rear edge. However before you do, make sure the seats backs are folded forwards so as to give the HL more room once it drops. The only other thing keeping the HL secured in place after reinserting the Rear Edge, then the front, are those 2 pieces of Velcro R&L (see pics), which I had already released by pulling R&L Rears wings Down after having removed the C-Pillars. Now that I have removed the Front Sunroof Windscreen, I can use my tool to Cut out the Top Section of the Windshield to remove the HL. Then I can finally get to the good stuff (Stereo Speakers, AMPs +DSP, Radio, Floor, Seats, Door Cards etc.). As wide Pan view I could get of HL inside car! This is the front edge I had to pry using a screwdriver to release it from its being suspended by the Panoramic Roof Frame. This is the rear edge “Lip”, which will be pushed further back receding into this “Lip” when prying apart the front. However, this is the amount you have to then pull forward in order to release the HL to cause it to Drop Down. This is the Rear View Edge where the previous picture shows that Rearward “Lip” of the HL which must first be attached to this cross edge. These are the 2 Velcro Tabs in the Rear R&L of the Parking Indicator Light which you release first! 2 Rear Side Velcro Tabs on the HL Another Close-up of the Pano Roof Rear Close Up of Pano Roof Center Section showing the Roll Up Blinders Closer view of Roll Up Blinders.
When I get all the AlCanterra Off as well as the Foam, I’ll touch up those metal edges to get the old glue off! I surely hope this helps as I was scratching my head for Months trying to figure this out without breaking the HL! Moreover, I might add that the WIS does a very poor job on explaining how to go about it and shows a Blow-up image of a “Clip” that I thought for months had to be released a certain way, but in the end obviously was never there! I spent a couple hours with my BoroScope/iPad Combo to try to find those “Clips”, but obviously never saw them. I thought I might have spotted them, but it turned out to be the Velcro and from the image placement in WIS, it should have been further towards the rear edge, but again, it wasn’t there. It must have been referring to Non-Pano Roofs maybe in the WIS?
