Replacing fog lights and bulbs...
I am debating on tackling this project myself this weekend to replace the fog lights and bulbs rather than taking her to the Indy - unless the job needs specific tools or takes more time/challenging than I am thinking ..
Has anyone replaced theirs? How long did it take you? Any tutorials?
I have 9006 HB4 LED 6000K for the bulbs, I am hoping this will be nice and bright rather than the dull OEM output. For the fogs themselves, purchased from a seller on ebay for upgraded fog lights with OEM fitment. Much more clear than stockers.
Thank you in advance

The E55 fog mesh surround doesn't look anything like that - I don't even see screws in ours, just the mesh tightly fitted around the fog. I am wondering if the mesh just pops out or has clips, I'll look into it more this weekend -

Pull back the fender liner after undoing a few scews and reach them from the back.
edit: saw you are replacing the housing. Yes if I recall remove the mesh and will have access. Can check YT for W203 C230 replacement as it’s the same style bumper.

Yea, we will see about that one haha, my main concern I have now. I can't recall the last time I turned them on. I usually do just day driving; the new housing will make it look clean even if the lights won't cooperate!

A few months ago, I replaced my halogen fog light bulbs with LED's that I purchased off Amazon on my 07 E63. In all fairness, I went through multiple sets of LED's.
They all claim canbus compliant, but they all flickered. I had to buy resistors, that plug-in between the wiring harness and the actual bulb. That fixed my flickering issue.
These are the resistors that I purchased. https://www.superbrightleds.com/cata...it/category/2/

I couldn’t wait til the weekend. Decided to go with white 9006 HB4 instead of the LEDs - they flickered when I tried them on the car, didn’t want to deal with the headache just a cleaner look.
Old fogs were very beat up and yellowed, scratched, scraped up. These new housings make the car look new. Took about an hour for both sides and I was working slowly, only removed a few screws from fender lining to get to the bulbs. Very tight in there, especially the passenger side with the PLM XL getting in the way…
I’ll post some before and after pics tomorrow… so you guys can see.
Thanks for the tips.

Years ago, I noticed that both my fog light glass lens were broken or cracked, so I bought replacements. But, I had them wrapped in PPF before installing them, and it's been about 5-6 yrs now and they still look brand new.
PPF is your friend when you consider that your fog lights reside in the lower part of the front bumper, and is susceptible to all kings of road debris, it just makes sense to have them wrapped in PPF for added protection.

And it will definitely save you money in the long run. Think of it this way, those fog lights lenses get pelted by everything on the road; sand, rock salt, pebbles you name it.
It is best to protect them with a thick layer of PPF - Paint Protection Film, for those that don't know what I'm talking about.
And if you don't have a thick layer of film, you can lay multiple layers of PPF on top of each other to achieve your goal of bullet proof protection.

Poor photo quality, but you get the idea ... the new housing look was enough for me to do this.
Flush fitment with OEM mesh grill and bumper
Much brighter 9006 HB4s than the OEM bulbs.
New glass housing installed
New housing
Beat up Old OEM housing
OEM housing

Now you just need to have them covered in PPF before they start looking like the old ones.
