What are your suggestions to upgrading my steering wheel? I would like something beefier. I found some on ebay but they dont have air bags and further the sellers say the buttons wont work anymore if I get them. Should I just find an apolstry shop and design something? What have you guys done? Thanks in advance for your help. 2005 e55
break down:
2005 E55 has an upgraded clockspring so if you wanted to use a facelift w211 the wheel will work, youll need to find an amg airbag which is quiet expensive
you can get a beefier wheel like you have now with a flat bottom
or you can upgrade straight to a 2020 wheel and still have all your buttons function (this is not a simple plug and play if you buy the wheel yourself) you will need to have the wheel modifed (or you can go with a company that does the retrofit
regardless of which option you choose due to the year of your car you have options
I own RuCarbon and can certainly help with the retrofit to the newest style wheel should you choose that.
I am also good friends with the guys at Carismo Cardesign and know they do good work too
on a side note, most upholstery shops wont actually make the wheel any thicker or change the geometry of the wheel itself just something to keep in mind.

That's mine and it's a CLK63 Black Series steering wheel. All facelift airbags fit with it, you just need to get the matching colour code. Over here in Europe the airbags aren't really expensive

old account havent used that one in a long time. That was the wheel that started it all
the oem wheel isnt for everyone, I still cherrish that wheel deep in my heart but iv moved up to a 2020 in the cockpit, more of a wow factor for all the dudes that see the car
