I've ran from light to light with just about every type of car you can think of because there are many great cars around where I live. The track and the street are very different. That's all I am trying to say. The best way to prove my point would be to run a CL55 from a 20 roll to see which car is faster. This would take any variables out of the situation. It would be down to which car is faster. According to Improviz's amazing wisdom, I would get smoked. All I am saying is, don't expect 12.5 on my first run because that would be unreasonable.

I will go to the track, but all I am saying is that I need a couple practice runs to get a feel of things. The other thing that I am saying is the E55 is low 12's while the CL is mid 12's. To put this story completely to rest, I need a CL to compare to. If you can't supply that, we have to go by times. Is there one CL within 100 miles of me that wants to go? We can do it on the street or on the track. I will be wherever I have to be to go head to head with the car I claimed to beat.
Just run it at the track already. If you are trapping at 104, it really doesn't matter whether you ran a 13.7 or a 13.3. Trap speeds are much less sensitive to bad starts than are e.t.'s. Smart people on this board can make their own determination of whether you would have beaten the CL55 that never showed up to race you at the track. A 13.3 @ 108 does not beat a CL55 Kompressor with even a half-a@$ launch. If you run a 12.9 @ 114, then MAYBE you had a shot. I was never able to get the launch down on my Z06 (too much wheel spin), but my trap speeds and interval between the 330' and quarter helped tell me how "fast" my car was. Post what you run, and then we can all decide what is plausible. You really have nothing to lose at this point. If your time sheet tells me that you could have run with that CL55, then I will be the first to defend your story. (well, depending upon when you post).

With that kind of a logic you could say that "automatics are for old people with no skills!½!!½!".

In my opinion APK1013 is "not guilty" until proven otherwise. The fact that a CL55 or whatever runs 1/4 mile 1 second faster doesnt prove much, it does greatens the chance of lieng but thats not enough...

Improviz, is it really worth the trouble to prove him wrong?

That's cause you drive an auto! People race from a roll in order to see who's car is quicker. I only race from a dig once in a while when I see a great car at a light. I don't launch my car enough to be great at it everytime since the M5 stock clutch is very sucky. A roll with three honks will prove who really has the more powerful car. Nobody can complain. You like to race from a dig because all you have to do is stomp your right foot!! Do you want to see who's car is faster or do you want to see which car launches better????

APK1013, the longer you post, the more the truth comes shining through...

yesterday, after bragging about how good you were for all these posts, you come out and downplay the numbers you'd get at a track....and now?

Well, you claimed before that you'd beaten the Cl55 thanks to your killer launch, and now we see that you won't back this up either! Excuses, excuses, excuses!!

As to which car is easier to launch: read the original comparison in Motor Trend between the W210 E55 (NOT the current one, since I'm sure you don't know the difference) and the M5. The test driver said that the M5 was easier to launch, as the Benz's higher torque (at lower peak RPM) made it very difficult to launch without excessive spin.

So, you shouldn't have anything to worry about, given the killer launching skills you were bragging about, at least until today!

It seems that the amount of excuses we're seeing here piles up with each person who actually challenges you to show up and put up! Remember this next time you talk smack on racing forums: people will call you out, and you'd better be ready to back it up!!

Its only fair to do one race on my terms and one race is on his terms. I am more than willing.

Good point!!!

In the time he's spent whining and making excuses here, he could have run about 500 1/4 mile races!!!

Well it is a 120K - 140K car and it is a limited production run. The message board is by far the least populated on mbworld for cars that have been around longer than a year.

So it is most likely a case of no one around rather than no one willing.

A teenager punk? All I did was relate a story that happened to me 3 months ago when I was driving around. A real punk, huh? I think your the one that needs parental discretion.

My thoughts exactly. This Forum is very forgiving...if something like this would happen on 996TT/GT2 Forum,he wouldn't have a chance to even open his mouth...
Anyway I'm done with this thread...
