To CL Grill, or not to CL Grill...

I'm up in the air on whether or not to put a CL Grill on the E55. I had the CL Expression Grill on my C32 and thought it complimented the car very well. With the E55, it just doesn't seem to be as 100% as with my C32. What are your thoughts?

debating over the same issue. was trying to keep the MB symbol and put on the flush hood pin (AMG).

i think i might just go with the flush MB hood pin rather than the AMG hood pin.

i took a few polls from my friends and the sentiment was that the E55 stands out by itself and with that grill it would look like a CL wannabee. i'm still on the fence, but these decisions should be easy ones if they are the right ones.

I think the CL grill looks terrible on the E-class

too many circles, too close together

the only car that looks good with an aftermarket grill is the C55 with the CLK grill, because the entire front is a CLK anyway.

There are several CL style grills. I don't like any of them except the one I have on my car.

Everyone that sees my grill in person seems to love it... but I understand many people don't like it....

Jay Bo, I have the same grill in black on my black E55. It looks great. Everyone who sees it thinks it adds character to the car so that it doesn't look like the E500 or E320. The salesman at the dealership wanted to know where I got it so he could tell other E55 owners that might want to make their cars stand out a little. It seems to lower the look of the front end and give it a "meaner" look. Did you get yours at myroadster.net? I believe I paid $250 or so. Worth every penny. It's like with the guys who ride stock motorcycles.....it's ok but it's a bit boring.

Much more aggressive look IMO. I love the body color grille, especially in Capri Blue. But then again, I'm a little biased.

I have to disagree. Just a note: all the power to those who like the grill, I am simply displaying my opinion here, no judging whatsoever. I must say though, I can't stand the CL grill on the E-class. This is simply because I think it stands out WAY too much in the front, and really gives the car a sort of stub-nosed feel. Maybe if the Benz sign was smaller it would work out, but to me, it looks like another headlight right in the middle of the grill! I can see, however, how it might look good on a black car given that the shadowing of the Benz sign is black. Might look pretty flush, but IMO, its way too much.

Not in the least bit. As a matter of fact, you posted your picture as I was writing that post, and note that I said it would probably look good on a black car...and it does! I must say, I really am not a fan of the CL grill on silver or any light color for that matter, but Dr., nothing could make your car look any less than perfect

i love the CL Grill "expression style" the one that just has 4 bars only (not 5 bars). here is the picture, this grill compliment the car looks sportier and more like SL/CLK style. i noticed several people have in C-Class, but not in E.

Now this is as ugly as the Aplina B5 showed in the other thread. The so call "aggressive" just doesn't fit in the E55 style, plus too many circles at the front.

some MB owners are nice, they are adding the CL grill to the E-class to make the new M5 less ugly.

Thanks for your help guys! I think I'm going to stick with the original grill for now but I'm probably going to stick the flat hood emblem on the car. I think the CL Grill is just too much for the front of the car, like others said.

You all have beautiful cars and I'm proud to have my own W211 E55!

You guys have convinced me, my car is ugly. I'm just gonna take that Lorinser grille off my car and toss it in the garbage, so nobody else can degrade their car with it. Now, I'm starting to even like the 5 series. Maybe someone with a 545i will take a trade-straight up. My "Tucker", for what it's worth is Blue, not Black.

IMO the flat hood badge only looks the best, but out of all big "CL" style grills the ones shown here are the only ones that actually look like they fit and I actually love the way they look; still would'nt get one, though.. :p

Picture Expression Grill

IMO the only grills that are perfect for W211 is just the OEM grill itself and this expression grill below. This is the one that I mentioned before, the style is similar to SL/CLK Grill. Frameless and not many bars. I found this picture online but don't know where to buy. W211 with this grill looks more aggressive and sporty. At least in my taste

I bought an Expressions grille first and it is a piece of crap. It is not frameless mand has a plastic frame that fits over the end of the hood. It is fairly well hidden in the picture, but if you look closely, it is there. The construction is very poor and I returned it and picked up the Lorinser. It is a much higher quality than the others and looks like this from the factory.
