If anyone here has intalled either of these two products, where are your transponders mounted, up front, and possibly in the back? If you have pictures, I'd love to see them. I got hit with laser this weekend and I need to get my jammer installed pronto.

I'm interested to see if the transponder needs to be ounted flush to the outer area, or if it can be mounted behind the grille. Also, if mounted, how did the installer or you attach it to the car?

And lastly, I'd love to see where the installer ran the wires to get it from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment. But that is frosting. I need to mount the transponders first.

I have: (i) two jammers mounted behind the "meshing" below the grill; (ii) a radar detector behind the grill; and (iii) one jammer mounted to the rear license plate frame.

Sorry, but I won't be able to take any photos until sometime this weekend.

 

no worries about waiting til the wknd. i will only tackle this monday, so that would be perfect. thanks! any pictures or descriptions of how the jammers are attached would be extremely helpful as well.

on my mother-in-law's 04 E55, the front transponder is mounted behind the lower grille mesh.

Some of the grille metal was removed from where it blocked the transponder lenses; the transponder looks like it's attached with zip-ties.

 

any pictures you could post would be very helpful!

the second and probably most important question is how they got the wire from the transponders from the engine compartment into the interior cabin.

the car is in the shop now getting Nav installed (early Xmas present); hopefully she'll get it back today.

I have a pic of the front, but it's not close enough to see the detail. If I have a chance, I'll take a closer pic. However, I think hers is a K40, so it might be different.

 

here's a pic of the front. sorry, but I haven't been able to take a closer front pic. I guess if you look closely, you can see the transponder mounted center-top of the grille.

Sorry, when I read your post for the first time, I didn't realize that you were asking specifically for information with regard to Lidatek/Blinder. The system that I have installed is a Beltronics. I've had it for 8 months and have been pleased with it. In that time, I've been "painted" with laser twice and, on both occasions, avoided apprehension. I have two lasers and a radar up front; one laser in the rear. I had a guy install it for me, so I can't help with your questions with regard to the wiring.

Okay, Gareth: IIRC a while back you asked me to post pics of the LED's in the dash, too, so here they are. Also is a pic of the city/highway/volume switch mounted up under the dash above "launch" pedal, and a grille pic of the transponder.

Question for those with the laser transponder behind the front grille. (I have mine there as well now (2 blinders, one right, one left)). Have you been painted / lasered and seen your unit work?

The manufacturer's of these units say to not let anything obstruct the front of the unit. I just want to know that some others out there have installed the transponders this way with positive results.

apparently according to some of the guys on the M5 board, you can set off the laser jammers using IR. meaning you can use IR remote controls, held close to the transponder. They suggest you do not use Sony though.

After a number of challenges I finished the Escort ZR3 install. I finally found a good location for the 12 volts (switched power). After removing the driver side trunk panels I connected to the wire that powers the trunk cigarette lighter (spare tire air compressor connector). I found a good ground next to a location that MB used on the wheel housing just in front of the fuse box next to the DVD drive in the trunk. With the forward trunk panel (behind rear seat) removed I routed the connector block (ZR3) on the driver side under the rear seat. For the front transceivers I mounted them behind the lower grill like other have. I then used 3/8” flexible automotive conduit and routed it from the front transceivers over the front wheel suspension (followed factory wiring already routed the same way) and then between the floor pan and the plastic cover plate under the car on the driver’s side. I routed it up the side of the fuel tank and entered the cabin with the entrance used for the fuel pump wires. The rear seat needs to be removed which is easy if you find the little tabs that needs to be pushed (one on each side). I removed the round cover plate that allows access to the top of the fuel tank and fished the wires from the under side to the cabin under the rear seat. With the back of the rear seat removed it was easy to run the power wire from the trunk lighter connection. I mounted the control panel in the same place as the photo IBE55 posted. I mounted the remote mute button on the side of the shift lever console just above the surface of the driver’s seat. My biggest challenge was reconnecting the connectors that I cut off the transponder wire so I could route them. I thought they were RJ-11 connectors like on a telephone. The problem was that they were some other connector like the one that goes from the handset of a phone to the phone (not RJ-11). I ended up soldering the original connectors back onto the original wires. I have a RJ-11 crimp tool and life would have been much easier if they were RJ-11. I hunted around for the better part of a day and could not find the crimp tool for this connector. In the end this install took about twice as long as I planned but I know it was done right because I did it. If you have any questions you could drop me an email at CCIE7879@hotmail.com. During the nine months that I've had the system, I've been "painted" with a laser on two occasions in roughly the same location (probably the same officer). For added protection, I now normally slow down through that stretch of roadway.

When the unit detects a laser, it flashes and sounds an alarm. The driver then pushes a button (see photo in my prior post) and the laser blocking feature of the unit is disabled for 60 seconds. At the end of the 60 second period, the unit "reactivates" the laser blocking. The theory behind the "60 second button" is that the officer's gun generates an error message and so when the officer makes a second attempt, the laser blocking has been disabled, and the officer gets a valid read on you speed (of course, by that time you've slowed down).

does anyone know where the tabs are to the back seat? a picture would definitely be appreciated.

 

At the bottom front of the seat, where the leather meets the carpet. There is a small indentation into which you can stick your finger. There is one on each side, about four inches in from the outside.

 

I just purchased the Blinder X-treme m20...

My car's already got the K40 laser diffuser.but reviews said they are bad. Plus I have always used the blinder laser jammers..

Does anyone have any suggestions on mounting the modules inside the mesh area??

I mounted mine inside the upper grill. If you look at my sig, I mounted the module on the second tier down(right above the red eyes). They are unobstructed, and work great!
