Sounds like a great idea. A tuner here in town polishes the Viper S/C's and also paints part to match the car color. I would say that it will look great, barring price.

Might want to consider painting it flat black to help remove heat. Polished or chromed surfaces will retain heat VERY well.

this didnt take long, polisher said no way to polish the checkered exterior. so i sent the amg "logoed" aluminum intake covers. now ill have polished aluminum next to raw alum (the supercharger) maybe ill powder coat the sc gloss black and see how that works out. with a cf engine cover that could look sick!!!

Peter,

You don't want to insulate the supercharger. It's checkered like that to disappate heat - which is not something you want to inhibit. You also don't want to polish it because like mentioned above, polished surfaces retain heat a lot more than unfinished surfaces.

You really are better off just not messing with the supercharger in terms of improving it's aesthetics. This car has enough problems with heat as it is.

The ribbing of the blower housing is to stiffen the case with a minimal weight penalty-not specifically for cooling, although it doesn't hurt. The casting is left rough to enhance heat rejction (more surface area) and polishing would result in higher blower temps.

Powder coating?...bad idea for the same reason, and I'm not sure if the PC would be happy with the blower's operating temp.

If you must bling the blower, there are coatings available that will enhance heat transfer.

Have you considered anodizing?.
