I am a newbie, so this may be a stupid question. When I turn on the Radio / Command system, I see the Mercedes Benz Logo. In the showroom, they had a demo command system and when I turned it on, it displayed the "AMG" logo. Should my AMG display the "AMG" logo or the MB Logo??
Is it possible to display the "AMG" logo like the dealer demo?

My '04 says MB as well. I've never seen one say AMG. Maybe it's an '05 thing.

It must have been a special demo COMAND unit with a modified boot logo. All COMAND units use the same firmware which have the same Mercedes logo.

You can actually change the logo if you knew how. I know that Steve (MBenzNL) can do it.

It is not a demo comand...it is one of those things you can change in 04s and 05s with the 3-5-7 trick as it is called here on the forum...do a search on that.

I thought it was found that 3-5-7 stopped working on the 05's...I only tried it once on my car with no luck.

yea, i'm about 12 pages in to several posts on 3-5-7 and it seems to be the concensus that it does not work with 05's which can play mp3's.

steve, you're stopping by the bay area in about 2 weeks. is there another way to get the AMG to appear, and to switch the car to Euro setting?

I just tried again and i got a menu to come up. I tried to set it to the amg/w211 setting for the US however it wouldnt stay there. It kept switching back to w211_us.

seems you have to turn command off for 5 minutes for the setting to take.

I will be thrilled if i can do this with mine, or at least if there is some hope....

Yup that was it. Went back to the car and the AMG logo came up. I wasnt willing to wait the hour some people mentioned, but 5 mins did it.

I've seen an 04 that was set to ECE and when it was upgraded to the 05 software, that setting mapped to starting with the AMG logo.

i just walked outside and tried it on my 05. secret was doing it in the CD mode and depressing 5 a little before 3 and 7, then waiting 5 seconds. but i did pull up the menu. mine is 2005, october build, took delivery end of november.

is it the firmware upgrade that wipes it clean scorchie?

I think it works on 2005 models as long as you do it properly. I've tried it at the dealership before too and had it work on a 2005 (with rolltop center console no less). Getting it documented what the "proper" method is has been taking some time, with so many inaccurate reports and all...

The 357 buttons worked on my 11-03 build date to get the amg logo. I think that's about all you can change with a stock unit.

Scorchie/anyone else that knows,

357 accesss works, AMG logo shows after changing keyboard to USAMG setting. I changed the model setting to the European W211 as well and it took.

Questions:
1) Is it possible that there are other submenus from this 357 access? If so, how do I navigate to them?
2) Specifically, how do I change the language so I get the cool British Navigation voice? Is that at all possible through this method? The European W211 setting does not give me this.

It still works...but the sequence has changed by mercedes (which is NOT related to a comand being 04 or 05 BUT is related to the software on the comand - meaning that an updated 04 comand uses a different sequence as well).
switching the car to euro is a definite NO...getting the AMG logo to appera might be possible...but it won't change the car's performance...

Mike...your comand is not broken...Your DAD's W210 comand - however - just starts up differently...just change that - I would say...

thanks steve. i got the AMG to appear with a little coaching from various other posts.

i'm enjoying the current performance of the vehicle, so no worries. i was just interested in changing the NAV voice to the British accent.

Yes!!! The 3-5-7 worked for me also in the CD Mode. The 5 needed to be pressed slightly before the 3+7.

Cool mod - just wish the "AMG" logo would stay up 2 or 3 seconds, rather than half a second. Still, better than the Star.
