11.78 at Gainesville Raceway

Took 3 runs today at Gainesville Raceway. First one was the best after waiting nearly an hour for tech inspection and then to change out the rear tires.

Run One
11.78 at 118.26 mph with a 1.77 60' time. Beat an 02 Cobra spraying nitrous who ran a 11.97. He couldn't get to me fast enough after the race to see what I had in that Mercedes.

Run Two
11.85 at 118.03 mph with a 1.805 60' time.

Run Three
11.84 at 117.27 mph with a 1.785 60' time.

Car has Kleemann Stage 2 with LSD and BF drag radials on the rear. Weather was low humidity (I think) and somewhere in the 60's. All launches are in dyno mode after 5 second burnout.

Great times Derek!!!

What does dyno mode do at the track again?

Thanks for the info and one last time....what is the secret to getting it into dyno. There are a lot of wrong ways on the forum.

Thanks again

Dyno mode turns off traction control. With the key in the position right before the car is cranked, navigate the dash menu to the screen where it shows the speed. Then press the trip reset knob 3 times and you'll here a tone. Go through the menus one to the right and you'll see a new menu. Go through that menu until you see "Dynometer Mode" and then turn it on.

Can you list what parts include kleemann stage 2! Thanks!

Awesome time, Derek! I am hoping that I can dip under the 12.0 mark stock with some good air in the next couple of weeks when Englishtown reopens.

And thanks for the Dyno mode recipe. As best as I can remember, your post was the first one to say that you need to have the display showing vehicle speed before hitting the odometer reset three times. I will see if that does it. Thus far, I have had no luck with finding dyno mode on my car.

D,

I think you own the best W211 1/4 mile times out there. Have you seen any other modified cars that are running similar/better times? Looking for facts/time slips.

Keep on rockin and I look forward to your next trip to the track.

nice run

when you say you beat an 02 mustang... make sure you know what year it was before you brag about it though... beating an 01 with n20 is nothing special... beating an 03 with n20 is 1-bad driving on his part 2-one hell of an accomplishment!

either way, before posting your "kill" just make sure you know the details because it is the world of difference...

not trying to start a war by any means....

congrats on the run, thats sick for a family ride, I sure as hell cant wait to get one when the time is right

Congrats again

think about what you say before before you say it.

Beating ANY car that runs sub-12 in a 4 door 4100lb family sedan is worth bragging about regardless of make and model.

who cares what year it is...

Sure, whatever. It was my best guess from looking at the Mustang in my rear view mirror. We didn't engage in a rational discourse after he just got embarassed by my grocery getter. Here's his time next to mine, you be the judge.

Thanks man. I think I have some more to get. I need to air up my front tires more, launch with a bit more RPM's, and hopefully address the heat issue with the Kleemann intercooler they're working on. Yes, I do ice it down when I get there and sometimes between runs.

Congrats on the run- 2 Items:

#1 - Based on the trap speeds of the 2 cars, you were definately pulling away
(harder) then the rustang.

#2 - Can't wait to see the effects of additional cooling??
Other members please throw in your input- but with an 11.78 time
you should EASILY be clocking 123-124 trap speed
That simply tells me that at the end of the 1/4 mile, the heat is
beginning to have it's effect on the motor holding the HP output.

Ken,

Can you help me understand your line of thinking? I am not as skilled as you at reading into the data. Thanks.

if you look at Derek's link to his time slip. I shows that the Cobra got a great start and actually beat Derek out of the hole. The Stang beat Derek to the 1/8 mile but Derek was going faster than the stang at that point. This indicates that Derek is closing the gap on him. Derek beats him to 1000' which Shows he is accelerating faster than the Stang. Derek continued pulling and beat him the 1/4 and the speed disparity was growing as well as the distance between them

This was the portion of the message that I did not understand. How did you come to this conclusion? Not pointing any fingers---just trying to learn.
