*** Anyone with E55 in Daytona Beach?? ***

There are a few of us on the board working with a wheel manufacturer (CCW) to make some wheels for us.

I have had some communication with the owner (John) and John and I are trying to work out a way to fit 11" wheels on the back of the E55. John thinks it can be done, but I would feel better if we could measure up a car just to be 100% sure.

Is there anyone on this board that has an E55 that can run over to John's shop and let him take some measurements?

Please reply in this thread if you can help out.

Awesome!!!

Thanks a million. This will help tremendously in making sure we get it right the first time. I'd love to see an 11" wheel a reality on the back of the E55.

When you talk to John, tell him you were talking with Victor from Toronto, Canada.

hey victor, how much are those rims you are talking about? I think my brother was gonna buy those for his supra back when the hurricanes took out florida but he couldn't wait so he bought something else.. I would be interested in buying a set with wheels as well...

CCW Operations

Victor, John's got his measurements so I sure you guy's will figure something out. John is great guy and he gave me a tour of his operation. He definitely knows what he's doing and I was very impressed with the extent of his equipment and operation. I'm sold and I will be getting a set of wheels when my CLS55 comes in. We discussed a black chrome process that he has access to that will create a onyx type look to the wheel. Also his diamond cutting/polishing has got a unreal finish that looks like a mirror. He is definitely the way to go to avoid crazy mark-ups that are put on your mass-marketed wheels.

Hey Houston,

John told me $2,400 when I spoke with him but I am not sure how the price is going to be affected if we do the 11" rear... He probably wont increase it, but I dont know for sure.

All I can say is that you can't go wrong with CCW or John. They are a great company, the wheels are strong and light (21lbs for the 19" SP500 I am looking at) and they look great!

I am going to get him to put Michelin Pilot Sports2 tires on the wheels and ship them complete.

If you want in, let me know and I'll mention it to John. So far there is Marcus, SamE55 and myself that are interested (I am ordering but I am not sure about the other 2 guys).

Amen. I am glad I helped bring you to the light.

When you think about it, he makes a great product, he is always accessible if you need help or have a problem, and his customer service is outstanding. I've never heard 1 bad thing mentioned about him so there is no reason to NOT deal with him.

I actually talked to him about doing the black chrome process for my car.. I've been waiting for a sample picture. Did you see it in person? I didn't want to say to go ahead with it before I saw it just in case.....

Anyways, your car will look HOT with those wheels. I'll snap some pics when mine are installed.

Thanks again.. I owe you one!!

you can count me in for complete set tires/rims as well... would be awesome with an 11" rears.. what about lip size?

19" CCW SP500 on supra

Im thinking of 505A's but the SP500 are very interesting

Houston,

You know what... Give John a call and talk with him.. Tell him you were talking with Victor from Toronto about wheels and he will take care of you.. I originally know John from my Corvette days.

I am going with the SP500 because everyone seems to buy the HRE547 & SP505 variations (the split spoke 5 star design). I thought getting the SP500 with the solid 5 spoke would look different than everyone else.. If I get the black chrome they truly will be unique.

Just spoke to John today. I have to say he is very informative and really nice guy.

Victor - I'm gonna go with the exact same SP500 as you. He's gonna call me back today and let me know how it's going. I think as of right now, he's doing 9x19's in the front to get at least a 2" lip and going with 255/35/19's. He mentioned that he's trying for 295/30/19's with 10x19's rears and trying his best so that they fit just perfect and don't rub. He will probably have it done later today or tomorrow and have a local E55 come in for fitment and check to see how it works out. He said he'll probably have pictures of them on an E55 and post them or send them out to us by next week. He also said that once all the measurements and specs are in full tact and work out perfect, It only takes him a few days to process and complete the wheels.

The reason he said that 255 fronts and 285 rears don't go well, cuz of the circumference. Bigger circumference wheels are not good if the fronts are bigger, it's better if they are equal both front and back or at least back alittle bigger than fronts. That's why he opted for 255 and 295's. I had mentioned that someone from mbworld here has 295's and they stick out and rub. He said not to worry, he's gonna try his best and make it all work out.

I can't wait til the outcome.

Houston,

Yup.. That's my combo alright.. John really wants to make the 295s work in the back and I am all for it. 275 on a 10" wheel is really not proper. You should have at least 285 on a 10" wheel.

The local guy he is going to have come by is AMGPlayer. He is the one who originally went down there on my behalf to have John measure the brake calipers. He's a good guy and hopefully will have some time to go by and take a test fit with my wheels.

Who knows, he may be tempted to even buy a set for himself... (AMGPLayer: YOU CANT HAVE MY SET THOUGH!!! )

I can't wait to see the pics either.

Good luck to us both!

Then I 'll have to see how they fit on my CLS: it should be the same. The car is at the dealer with a yet to be determined nav problem and a V1 installation. As soon as I get it back I can run it down there if John's ready. Just let me know...

Hey AMGPlayer,

Nope. They are not the same. The rear of the CLS is a bit different than an E55. I've seen someone with 20"x10" with 305 width tires on a CLS55.. No way that would fit under the rear of an E55..

Using your CLS for fitment would be good to see if it clears the brakes and such but fender lines could only be measured on an E55.

BTW, Congrats on the CLS55!! At least you can see what they will look like on your new car now.

John is a good guy. He gave me the tour a year or so ago. I just wish he offered some less shiney finishes on his wheels. His prices are awesome and he's almost local to me (1.5 hours). I wonder what kind of weight savings can be had using his lightest non-mesh wheels even in the widest size he can get on an E55. Maybe 3-5 lbs. per corner?

Well.. Looks like my wheels are ready.. John is a little nervous about shipping the wheels out to me without test-fitting the 255 & 295 combination on a car first.. sending back across border is a PITA.. I would rather escape that headache also...

Any chance someone is local that can swing by for a test fit??

Accomplice8: From what I remember the rear wheels are 26lbs and the fronts are 21lbs... Not 100% sure, but I think that is what John told me... You have to double check with him.

Did you get the wheels? How do the 295s fit? I may run down to John's and get a set of the 505As. Did he offer you any non-super shiney finishes?

Accomplice8,

My wheels were shipped yesterday. John was nice enough to mount a set of used 255/295 Pirelli tires on it for me free of charge so I can test fit them. If the 295 works ok I will order a new set of tires for it.

I should have the wheels either tomorrow or Monday (Friday is a civic holiday in Canada so everything is closed).

I'll post pics once the wheels are mounted.

Yes. John can do any finish you like but he sends them out. He has a brushed nickel finish which looks great.

Hey victor,
I am wanting to keep my 295/30/18s. Can you tell me the offset of yours?

Also, does anyone have a site link to CCW or should I just call?
