About to get a W212 E63- quick question...
I know the car pretty well but have a question regarding the the P30 package aka AMG Performance Package.
Is it worth it? The two cars are fairly loaded but the P3 car is about 7k more MSRP wise. I plan to lower my car so do I need the AMG suspension upgrade? I plan to ECU my car so do I need the 186mph limiter? The lesser car has the AMG steering wheel and 19's too.
So what did I leave out? The LSD.. what else- let me know what your thoughts are.
The two cars are as follows:
White w/Ash interior- msrp 107k
(230) PARKTRONIC w/Parking Guidance
(298) Rear Side Airbag Package (DISC)
(610) Night View Assist PLUS w/Pedestrian Detection
(736) Black Ash Wood Trim
(864) Rear Seat Entertainment System
(P02) Premium 2 Package
(P30) AMG Performance Package
Red (yes red) with black interior MSRP 101k ... a 2 year lease with a Red sedan could be intriguing
067) Illuminated Door Sills
(230) PARKTRONIC w/Parking Guidance
(281) AMG Performance Steering Wheel
(413) Panorama Sunroof
(736) Black Ash Wood Trim
(793) Wheels: 19 AMG Twin 5-Spoke Forged Light-Alloy
(P02) Premium 2 Package
And this is a wildcard:
white with black interior MSRP 94k
(298) Rear Side Airbag Package (DISC)
(413) Panorama Sunroof
(736) Black Ash Wood Trim
(P02) Premium 2 Package

I say go with the red one. The 19s and steering wheel seem to be what people want the most in the pp, the LSD not so much.
The nightview assist and rear view entertainment are some cool gadgets to have though, but i'm pretty sure they'll be quite useless in the long run.
BTW which red is it? There's one with mystic red in w212 section, and its one of the most stunning colors i've seen on sedans so far.

Haha, yeah I know what you mean.
I guess with all the $$$$ cars already cost me as a vice/addiction, I should consider myself fortunate that I can save in any aspect of said addiction.

Having seen the Mystic Red E63 in the flesh (I posted some pictures in the W212 forum), I can say it is a great color . . . I presume you have seen it in person since you are in the O.C. You would also have the rarest color of all the E63s, which may or may not mean something to you. So why didn't I get that car if I liked the color so much - I liked the Quartz Blue a little better and just didn't want a black interior this time around (or the 19 inch wheels - see below).
Also, to your question on the performance package and wheels, Edmunds commented on the performance package as really making the ride almost too stiff for most public roads (probably except for So Cal where the roads are smooooth). See http://www.insideline.com/mercedes-b...rst-drive.html. As Edmunds said, know your car and your roads before you get that package.
I needed the 18s here in Chicago as the roads are too rough to have a sufficiently comfortable ride with the 19s even without the performance package. But if you normally swap out your wheels anyways (you have a stunning collection of cars, by the way) and are not set on an exterior color, why not get that 18s and save some $$?
Look forward to hearing what you decide to do . . . Good luck!

P30 is rare. I always believed that the most rare and desirable car will pay dividends at resale.
Good luck, and great to see you are coming back

Have you considered waiting for the 2011 models? The leather dash and alcantara headliner are welcomed improvements.
For wheels I think you should throw some HRE 790Rs on it!

The residuals are only 2-3 pts off also- Im looking for a short term lease of 24 months max- I want this as a daily driver and then will get the new M5 or the new E-AMG.
And you are spot on with the wheels- 790's are excellent!!

Vic55, for what it's worth, if you get the car with the 19's and plan on replacing them, let me know - I'll buy them from you!

HRE P47 Monobloks get my vote. I'd love to see them in black on a white car. Hell I'd love to see them in black on my car!

From looking at your stable the PP car seems more your breed

No worries, listen that upgrade is for performance , it makes the handling more p car and bmwesque. The non pp cars are smoother but they handle like luxury sedans. The price paid in a lease is going to be minimal over 24 months. The more expensive pp car will have a better residual.

FYI this is the exact red car in question... not really a red. Its called Mystic Red as referenced in earlier posts and is similar to Barolo. I wish it was similar to Mars Red. Some people were calling it "An old man's color"

I havent test driven the car in about 7 months so I have to go and get my feet wet again. The deal on this car is amazing right now, thus my reason for flipping out of the M3.
