Did the Resonator Removal- not that much louder!!!
As the title says, I did the resonator cut out and replaced it with an X pipe- not that much more noise and I love sound. I think Im going to cut out the post cats too... no CEL and that should get me more noise.
I only wonder if Ill lose any power/tq? Anyone?

BTW, there is another H-like crossover just before the mufflers. So by deleting the resonators and replacing them with an x-pipe like you did, I'm surprised you made any sound over stock.

Where did you get your resonator remove? What X pipe are you using? Is it the magnaflow?

I removed my secondary's and deleted the resonators on my car. Put an x-pipe where the sec. cats used to be and straight piped the resonators. This way the torque remains the same and you'll pick up some HP on top. With an x-pipe, the exhaust will sound more refined. On my car, the mufflers have almost nothing in them from the factory. At start up it sounds more like an explosion. At least that's what my neighbors tell me. Above 2000 RPM, the sound is intoxicating. No drone at any speed, even when in 7th cruising. The E has more restrictive mufflers, so you should be fine. If it's too much sound, put the resonators back in place.

Thanks bro. If I leave the Xpipe at the resonator level and just straight pipe the post cats will I be OK?
As I remember when under the car yesterday; there is no H like crossover on the W212 post resonator. After the resonator the pipes just split left and right to the mufflers.
The car is louder at WOT... I just want louder all the way through. So I will go and take the cats out and see what happens.
The X-Pipe was a standard stainless that ACE muffler in OC had. They have done a lot of E63's (W211's).
I dont have a sound clip but will try to get one. I think Im spoiled with the loud header back system I had with the M3. After I had the resonator taken out, I went to my buddys wheel shop and they all said it sounded loud..
No drone--- in the cabin it seemed just marginally louder under throttle- just not enough for me. But for the masses who like the stock exhaust I think the resonator removal is a good thing, you will keep that nice start up and idle exhaust note with more roaaaaaaaaar at WOT.

Vic, if you straight pipe the sec. cats and leave the x-pipe at the resonators, you'll loose some power/torque and the car will never sound as good as the set up I suggested. I'm just trying to help you and all this information is of course just a suggestion .
The x-pipe should be as far forward (as close to the downpipes) as possible for optimum performance. This is where the exhaust should be balanced between the left and right bank. Since the secondary cats have a crossover from the factory, this is where the X should be. Never been under a 212, but the rest of the 63's all have that H-crossover right after the resonators.

The BS and C63 has it for sure and I thought I saw it on the E as well, but could be wrong. On second thought, I'm sure you're right since you know your car much better than I do.

Ditch the x pipe Vic. No need for one that far down stream on the exhaust imo. Straight pipes should get you more sound. Weird but, when me and my friend straight piped 55 and 63. Seemed to get louder the next day.
Is it not loud enough in our outside the car?
Cat delete would sound mean.

Damn I want to go through Evosport for them to make me a custom mid-section. But I guess its best to remove the secondary cats and replace with x pipe. And remove the resonators and replace with straight pipe?

My exhaust was done by Evosport. Not only the exhaust, they also did the suspension, engine, brakes, some carbon fiber and a custom roll bar.

Vic, sorry for the hi-jack

I went back to x pipe the post cats and they didnt have the right size x pipe for that application. So Im gonna have them make me one and then go back later.
