AMG - New Territory

Hello All,

after being a loyal long time Mercedes follower, I have taken it to the AMG level. I am now the proud owner of a 2010 E63 AMG. I must admit, it took a little of convincing work from my dealer to get me into the E63, but I do not regret so far. They even met my expectations w/ price. I got a deal w/ 20k off the MSRP. My big concern was the poor road conditions here in Manitoba, and the speed limits, but that is where the GL550 comes in which I kept.

Here are some pictures, enjoy!

Congrats and welcome to the club. You're going to absolutely love the car. I do and we have pretty bad streets here in and around NYC.

Joyride:

Great pictures of a beautiful car. I like the Palladium Silver with the Pano Roof combo. Looks great!

I think you will find the ride to be remarkably smooth even on the rough roads with the 18 inch wheels and the suspension set on comfort. I have been amazed at how comfortable the car is given its performance potential. Congrats!!

Looks like you like Merceddes as much as Bitburger...Prost!
Very nice car...Palladium looks mean...why not consider some great 19" wheels like
Vorsteiner in gunmetal?

I do like Mercedes as much as Bitburger, maybe a little more PROST!
Regarding the 19" wheels: I was debating to get 19th, but with our roads in Manitoba, didn't want to risk it for the ride quality. I participated in the Mercedes Benz AMG driving academy recently, and talked to one of the instructors there about AMG in general and my E63. He complimented me on the choice, and said it was smart of me to not go with the performance package and the 19" wheels. But then I didn't order the car, so took what was available at the dealer. Apparently according to my dealer, I have the only W212 E63 in our province. Don't know if that is true though...

Always nice to be unique

I agree with your choice not to get the perf pckg - I did not get one either,
but I did buy the 19" wheels (take offs) from another guy who did not like
them. I am not sure I would buy them if I had the choice again. I would go
with 19" Vorsteriner (sounds a bit like Warsteiner LOL ) V-102

I find that ride quality is alsmost as dependent on the type of tire as on the
aspect ratio: with my 19" wheels and the Pilot Sport A/S plus, the ride is
better than on the stock 18" P Zeros.

MBStar, I had 19's on my W210, and it seemed fine. I will have to look into a set of 19's maybe that I like. Those Vorsteiners are not bad. Where in Canada are you located?

I am in the GTA. We don't get the kind of snow you get, so I keep the Pilot
Sport A/S on year round. You may need to get some dedicated snows for the
winter.

Ok, thanks. I am not planning on driving the E63 in winter. Let the GL550 handle the ice, snow and miserable temperatures... If i come to think of it, winter is just around the corner
