Interested to see whatever pics you guys have of White 212's with black grilles. Not really something I'm convinced I'd want to do, as I think the OEM grille is so perfect and precise for this car, but I'd love to see some good pics.

Also, from what I've been told, the best "black grille" look is w/ matte paint, with leaving the inner slats in their original black-gloss state?

And how well do painted grilles withstand not chipping from rocks/crap flung at it on the road?

Thanks.

Ah, thanks. Actually I can't do the Sports grille on the Sedan, just looks bad IMO, the OEM grille on these cars is the perfect look to me.

I've seen lots of guys black out the OEM grille, but I can't convince myself as to whether I like it more than the chrome.

Also, I know how these things work.... Black out the grille.. THEN you gotta go all the way and black the wheels.... THENNN... Lol.

I buy an all black non star grille for the w212 but I cant find one--- There is the revo one but its a CF and Im like you; the factory one is good enough.

Ok here is another issue: I have distronic so maybe I could do that black grilled and the star would be my distronic protector.......LOL

Ok how about this all black one--- black grille and black star so the star is a bit more subtle:

Wow, actually, that black star one seems to be the way to go if one wants a Star grille.

Yeah, I just love the OG style, so classic, stately, and intimidating in that "Mercedes Luxury Sedan" way, I feel all those characteristics go out the window with the Star grille.

Not to mention, in todays M-B lineup, the Luxury grilles are actually rare and "exclusive", as they're only on the E and S-Classes.

The Star grille is now used on (you ready for this?): C, GLK, G, GL, ML, E-Coupe, upcoming C-Coupe, CLS, R, SLS, SL, SLK, CL.

I think people are so used to the previous M-B era's, where the Star grille was the "rarer" one, that they're forgetting that putting a Star grille on your E-Class, just makes it look more blended in with every other M-B in the lineup.

Interesting, thanks.

I think I'm sticking with chrome. I just love the look of a chrome grille on a Benz, I think I'd regret getting a black one since the only reason I'd be doing it is due to differentiation.

Im staying with chrome too. It matches all the accents on the headlights, door and trunk trim. Plus my wheels have polished lips so that adds to the theme I am currently with.

Nice^^. Yeah, good choice. Going with the best look > Doing something only for the sake of differentiation (applying to cars, not everything ).
