Slight creak/squeak when turning at slow speed

just wanted to see if there are any guys out there that are experiencing a slight squeak or creak when turning the steering wheel especially at the end of rotation of the wheel. I hear it when I'm turning at a stop sign or in the garage when i'm cranking the wheel over a couple of times. Its more pronounced at the ends of the turn. Sounds like a a squeak or maybe a slight buzz. Anyone have this or know what it may be?

yes - same issue here. It seems more pronounced in cold weather (less than freezing). I too will try to isolate it.

I have the same issue and it seems to be coming from the front struts on both sides. The dealer confirmed this and will be replacing both front struts sometime this week.

Thanks. Let me know how it goes and if it works, let us know what specific work was done. Its not a real big deal right now but I can see it developing to a point later where it will really bug me.

Thanks!

Thanks GT. How long is the work supposed to take? Which dealer do you work with?

Guys - Also if you can tell me how they determined it was the struts it would be great. Is this a known issue where there is an internal service bulletin or did they just test drive it and figured it was that?

Mine isn't so bad right now so I can see going in there and the dealer just dismissing the problem b/c they'll "won't hear it". But you guys are probably like me and can hear any weird or unusual noise no matter how faint it is.

Thanks again.

It seems like a known problem. They knew within 15min that it was a problem with front struts.

iM WORKING WITH BENZEL BUSCH IN NEW JERSEY.

This is my 4th time in service, the first thought it was just a ball joint but replacing it did not resolve the problem.

Then my alighment was off and they had to remove my whole front end to do alignment.

finaly they determined its the struts, took 1 month to get parts in stock.

now waiting on status, so far 2 days and still not done

Yikes! Here i was thinking over the weekend that all they would have to do is go lube some joints or something to fix it. Thanks for your help guys. If you don't mind, let me know the name of your service advisor. I'm at Ray Catena. If they're hesitant, I'll have them call your guy at Benzl or your guy in LI, Albert.

Thanks, again. Cheers

I'm at Union, but i think the edison one has the bigger service dept. Probably won't go in for a few weeks but I'll keep you all posted on what they say.

i know; ignorance can be bliss.

Fortunately, and unfortunately, I have the ears of a bat when it comes to squeaks and rattles...(coincidentally, they don't pick up on the wife's voice quite as well). I'm thinking this is the tip of the iceberg. The three of us are in the Northeast and I'm sure the cold weather up here helped aggravate the problem. At least we're catching it early, if that's any consolation. Good luck guys.

I am going to Rallye Motors, Roslyn NY this Friday to fix this problem. All the parts (struts) are in and ready to go. Will report Friday what they did and if it fixes the problem.

FYI alignment on our cars requires 7 hours of labor: Removal of front bumper, removal of intercooler / radiator. removal of several joints.

That's freaking crazy! When this thing goes out of warranty, we're screwed! Anyone know what the extended warranty costs? I heard it was something like 5 grand a year!

Mine didnt take this long nor did they have to do this process... I watched them do it. It was around 2 hours.

The set the toe and caster- no camber adjustment on these cars unless you install the bolts.

Wow, I am really concerned now. What did the dealer say? They are supposed to tell you what to do next. My car is going in tomorrow. Looks like it will be waste of time.

Shiznit!!! If they're underneath the car and turning the wheel, can't they isolate the sound? Sorry, I'm lost on what the next steps would be besides letting them do more tests. I'll take my car in soon to the dealer and see what they say.

No, all the adjustments were from underneath.
