No MB extended Warranty for AMG models?!?!
I came across this on when looking around MB website, under warranty:
http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/contac..._information_7
"Can I purchase an extended warranty from Mercedes-Benz?
The Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty may be purchased through an authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer (restrictions and limitations apply). For Model Year 2005 and later vehicles, there is the option to purchase coverage after 12 months from new vehicle delivery date. A surcharge will be added to the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price if purchased after 12 months from the new-vehicle delivery date. This program excludes AMG and V-12 models. Please contact your dealer for pricing and details."
I thought I read before about MB having an extended warranty coverage that will total up to 7yr/100K miles (so an additional 3yr/50K miles after the factory origional 4yr/50K miles) as long as it is purchased before the factory warranty ends. I have read around on MBWorld but nothing conclusive.
I thought I was just looking around for an E63. Now I'm putting a hold on that. This extended warranty thing is getting me worried.
Could some of you please shed some light on this?

W212 E63, 1994 Defender D90-Wifes, Panamera Turbo- Wifes, Track Car- looking... :(
I had an '07 E63 and when it was about out of wtty, the Dallas Dealership I use quoted me $8400 for a wtty that covered 50-100K (not everything and, still had deductable).
So, I walked over to the preowned section and promptly bought a used '10 E63 with 3000 miles and then bought a 7 year 135K mile MB wtty for $4500.
Sounds crazy. But they are now offering up to 135K mile wtty (through MB, so no deductable or stupid paperwork).
done and done.
My recommendation is to wait and find one with just a few miles.

LonghornE63, I'm looking for an E63 with <10K miles. Does that mean I should buy the extended warranty at the time of buying the E63, or wait until the warranty is about to run out like you did? Is $4500 typical for that full/maximum coverage? Thanks.

Purchased a new 2010 and added the 7yr 75K warranty from Mercedes
Purchased my car new and added the warranty. Cost was $3800. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I only got the 75k mileage, because I don't drive my car everyday. I have two other cars that I use as well.
I would be nervous driving the E 63 beyond the manufacturers warranty.
Try and get the MB warranty without any deductible.

I am shopping around for the same type of car as you and what I have been getting told is if I want the extended CPO warranty(120k or the 135k one) that you have to purchase that when you purchase the CPO car. I think $4.5k is what I have been getting told for the 135k one but I'd have to go back and look to be certain. I am figuring with the high miles my wife and I drive that this extension is a must for some good piece of mind.

As long as you buy the warranty for the car within 30 days, you will not get a 15% surcharge. Always call more than a few places to see if everyone is consistent. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with everything here in America.
Anyway, I have confirmed with MB of Santa Rosa today that factory extended warranty is NOT AVAILABLE with NEW AMG cars. So it looks like last year was the last year it's available, despite it covers only 75K miles. The person at the finance department was surprised himself when he could not locate the AMG cars on the list. He said he has never seen that before.
Thus it looks like what it says on the MB website is true...

Of course, the question now is, which third party warranty? I'm not sure if there is one out there with no deductible. Moreover, I hate to think about having to file claims, which are going to get rejected; or pre-authorization and all the headaches that come with dealing with an insurance company. Then there is all that legal fine prints that are there to get you.
Anyone got an idea or can recommend a company?
