New M5 1/4 time 11.92 @ 120.25
Got a M5 2 weeks ago. Great car, twin clutch setup is awesome. Feels like the GTR on shifting. Is the new 63 the same or similar?
Haven't had the M5 on a road course yet but the drag strip yielded impressive results. Looks to be pretty close with the MB til the tuning starts.
Here's what was posted on the M5 board. Hope everyone is well and fast!
F10 M5 Dragstrip Runs Last Friday Night
New M5 with 1,400 miles on it and after initial service ran 11.924 @ 120.25 mph. I had a race in Cali so I sent it with a friend to run it.
Below is his feedback and timeslip:
"Best run of 11.924@120.25.
1.840 -60 ft.
The car is extremely consistent. My other runs were 12.02-12.06 at 120-121 mph.
The launch control doesn't work half bad, and the rpm hold is adjustable. It just takes some practice on how to activate it in a hurry.
With those intercoolers it really doesn't heat soak much at all either. Did 3 runs back to back and got the same results. Pretty amazing car for the weight.
Scaled it with less than 1/4 tank and it weighed in at 4380 lbs with no driver."
Track was South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA.

As for times- I think most 63 TT's are running close times in the PP format so its a driver's race. The tuned 63's are closer to 125-126 mph in traps. And then some of the super modded ones are almost or over 130 mph. I think the 5.5tt engine can take and make more out of mods.
Either way the M5 is a marvel with its DCT and 4.4 liter displacement. I consider one just because I know how M's drive and feel and thats just as, if not, more important than pure straightline speed IMHO.
These are faster 1/4 mile times than most professional racing sports cars are running all the way up to the prototype classes, with 1,500 lbs more of weight.
as long as whatever i own is faster lol

Sometimes we forget that peak HP is relatively unused on such beasts like the E63TT and the new F10 M5. On the S85 E60 M5 peak hp was always needed as the curve on the dyno was very steep. Thus one always had to be 8/10ths or more on the engine.
So what Id love to see is an E63TT PP dyno'd at the same time as an F10 M5 and then have the curves placed on top of each other to see where the sweet spot(s) lie for both cars.

I tried several times when I was under 1000 miles and it would not go into launch mode. I even spoke to my tech about it and he indicated that to be normal during the break-in period.
I will not rule out operator error (remember, my name is rock) but I hope I disseminated accurate information.
