Was actually referring to the build month/year that's located on the pillar sticker when you open your driver side door. Mine is 2/12.

^Update?

BTW, I spoke to Kleemann today and they confirmed the problem is with the plugs that Mercedes used and not the tunes. Plenty of stock biturbo cars are encountering the same issues.

and plenty are not.... just saying ---- its the boost levels that a tuner pushes. Of course the stock plugs can handle some tunes and probably cant others... its always better to run a step cooler in plugs when on higher boost.

The dealer called today and said the plugs are the issue and not the tune. They just replaced the old ones with better new ones suppose. I hope thats it. Picking up the car tomorrow!!!

Hi Vic!

My guys are telling me otherwise and reporting that stock tunes are also encountering problems.

Are you getting the M5?

there was a specific vin or build recall over a year ago on the cls but that was all rectified... Ill check with my service director to see what he has encountered with stock vehicles...

I might get it---- I like change and I have a fantastic Benz in the C63 Black Series.

CEl

so took the car in at the dealer without the CEL on. It turned on with my last misfire and has not been on since. Dealer states thier are no codes in my system and will not even look at the plugs.

Can this be possible that I a CEL can turn on and not have a code pop up.

back to the drawing board

Glad to hear you were taken care of and your car is back up running strong.

Do we know in cases like this that ALL the plugs are being replaced, and not just the ones in the cylinders triggering the misfires? Would hate to end up having a mix of old and new plugs in the car.

Cel

Got the car back and lucky me the flashed my ecu back to stock. Not sure why they would but the flash is not there.

I guess the good news is I can drive the car hard stock and see if there any issues. Will know if its the tune or something wrong with the car

Is your tune custom? If so, how much more did they charge?

Rock is right this has been happening to non aftermarket tuned cars as well especially in 91 octane states. Like Porsche MB has made 3x running spark plug changes, going colder and just as importantly with less gap per change.

I had the first plugs and the newest plugs with my MHP tune and no issues to date.

M157s are potential detonation monsters. 10:1 CR with 18lbs or more of boost and it's a fine line. Ironically spark plugs are again highly relevant.

I am using Step 9 cold plug on my car that is designed for 1000hp and high boost cars.

so far it is all good.

Sorry to not mentioning which exact one it is. as its a special one and requires special tool to install it.

I really did some homework to find these plugs and have been reading more than 6 months about every detail and boom conclusin to use them or i can say for know to try them.

I am lucky that my Tuner and i think some of you know who i tune my cars with, was here in UAE when i installed them, so were able directly to do data logging and every test done while he

was here and i was tracking, cruising, driving high speeds, abusing my car, and he is enjoying it on the passenger seat. so far it shows promising results.

maybe i will put my name on them and start selling them LOL, J/K.

It seems like more and more people are having issues with the plugs and the tunes. I just had all my plugs replaced after getting stock in the middle of nowhere. Now after i picked up the car and 500 miles later the engine shakes bt 50 and 80mph on partial acceleration. So i got a brand new ecu with stock tune and no problems no shaking. Gotta wife that is due with a baby any day and cant get stock anywhere. But wanna keep the tune for the spring because car is really slow now!!!!

Yes I have OE tune I going back to stock because I don't want to have more problem to come I want to enjoy driving my car and not to worry about anything to happen I couldn't take the car to dealer to fix it under warranty the car has 7K miles because its tuned and the ECU is drilled !

I have a thread in the W218 forum about my codes and I dunno what does these codes mean anyway I'm taking my car to indy shop tomorrow morning to get it fixed and take back my ECU to get it back to stock

Stock plugs sucks, and the reason for it is no additional coolings.

they can't handle the boost + heat, so either to go to stronger plugs and colder like what i did. or extra coolings like dbasons55 did. although he has larger turbos but he is runing extra safe tune

when i used to install my stock plugs, they survive for 5k km only and start having issues after that. so they get screwed fast. i hope your car is fine.

don't drive it until you check your plugs, if they are 100% fine , than it may be one of the front high pressure fuel pumps.

please keep us updated.

sorry, i can't say anything for now

but so far so good and i am loving them. I need to cross 10k with them to make sure they perform as expected on these cars. you don't want a part that is not 100% solves the issue , dont you !
