Please share the information, would rather try different plugs than deal with the stock ones.

What temp is everyone's m157's running? Mine has been getting around 210 after driving it for awhile. And 220 if I drive it even a little hard dos t seem normal? But never payed attention before I got a tune

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but there is some good info in here and I just came up with the exact same problem. Car started shaking wildly after the check engine light came on. This happened once when I first got the car tuned but didn't happen for a while. This has now has happened several times in the past few weeks. It always happens whenever I romp on the throttle quickly. Scanned for codes and I am showing misfires in 6 cylinders. I have the off the shelf Renntech tune with no other mods. Just ordered new plugs from them.

listen. this situation is somewhat unresolved.
misfires on these motors are a dime a dozen. tune or no tune, renntech plugs or stock. doesn't matter.

that said, i'd caution your purchase before thinking these "cooler" plugs will resolve the issue. they are expensive, and don't seem to do any better than stock plugs. the only constant that has been observed so far is that these motors seem to trash plugs for some reason. consider having your local dealer swap in new stock spark plugs under warranty

Nick, I had a misfire on my rentech 2013 e63 Amg pp and freaked me out check engine on and flashing engine was vibrating and pulled over let sit for 10 mins and started back up and no cel and car is driving fine and strong, only put 500 miles since tune and it failed when I was doing 140 on expressway other than that I have never had an issue took to dealer says code was misfire and nothing wrong, it has 43k miles and I'm assuming stock plugs, could that be the issue? What plugs did they replace on your car? Did you replace with stock or upgraded?

I see a few people having similar issue and replacing with stock plugs? what shoukd I do? I have not driven hard since that incident so I'm not sure if it will do it again but I sure as hell don't want that experience again, any input or recomendations would be great thanks!

Oh but everyone says the tune is safe!!!

--- would love to never have this issue either .. And if I do, it'll be easily covered under warranty as I will not have a tune

I hope you get your car fixed

"Oh but everyone says the tune is safe!!!" Why do I get the impression that those are famous last words right before someone has to pull out their credit card and start paying for a series of repairs or modifications on items deemed no longer under warranty?

Sorry I couldn't resist. I hope he gets his car fixed too and that it doesn't cost him too much.

Paul... Exactly. You have to PAY to play and I don't want that sinking feeling when I have a CEL that I'm about to have warranty work declined

I know that Weistec, for their tunes recommends going with a cooler temperature plug.

I kept my OEM and so far so good.

I do have a question that I'm sorry you have or had experienced, but what to look for or what do you hear if a spark plug mis fire? Anyone? Thanks.

Oh if it's misfiring you'll know it.

I installed new plugs with my Weistec tune and just happened to end up with a faulty plug (replaced straight away by Weistec).

The engine shakes the car, there's no/little power and you'll get CEL's showing. Also if you can attach an OBD scanner, you'll see the misfire reading.

I added the new plug back in and the car is back to smooth and pulling like a freight train.

Thanks. Was talking to Renntech and they recommended the Renntech spark plus by NGK. Just order them spark plus, but have not had any issues so getting rid of the OEM plugs before I had to learn the hard way what a mis fire is.

I know Renntech is made by NGK if that helps since NGK is well know in the spark plug industry, you know where I'm leading. Just saying.

Tune

Have been having misfire issues again eve with new after market plugs. Spoke to Kleeman (don't have their tune) and the guys really know their stuff. Went into detail about O2 sensors going faulty throwing the cel and misfire. Very detailed stuff but actually made sense. I have been throwing misfires and O2 sensor codes. Only issue is to truley find out the issue is to turn the car back to stock and then start diagnosing from there.lots of time and energy. Tune has been a headache. Not sure the power is worth it

Where is your tune from?

I know one friend of mine with an E63 S with AMS tune reports CEL issues.

I have had no issues so far with my Renntech tune. But if I ever do you all will be the first to know it.

My 991 Turbo S has heat soak issue with my GIAC Stage 2 tune after the first roll race or quarter mile. But no CEL issues with it. Just a reduction in power by about 49-50 wheel hp to keep intake air temps in check with only stock intercooling

I believe drop997 had a Eurocharged tune but I'm not sure he stayed with it.

FWIW, I've been running Switzer's P700 package (tune and downpipes) for over a year on stock plugs and it has been 100% bulletproof......knock on wood.
