Shift knob removal

Looks good! Everyone must have forgotten about the question I had posted higher up on the thread so I'm gonna ask again...Is the new one shorter?
By the way, what year is your car? Based on your steering wheel, it looks like a '12+. I thought all those cars already have the new shifter knob. I like the perforated leather on the steering wheel. I always worry the alcantara on my wheel is going to sheer off one of these days.

The car is a 2011, I upgraded the wheel before I did the shiftknob. The only thing I would like to do to the interior now is to upgrade to NTG4.5. Then I'm done!

E63 AMG
Just got the new shift knob for my 2011 E63 AMG. Read the instructions on this thread. Pulled straight up on the old knob.... the knob came off easily, but the white plastic retaining "sleeve" is still there. Can't get that sucker off... tried pliers. Can anyone help?

You did better than me.
I would say just carefully cut that sleeve off with a dremel tool and cutting disk.
I don't know if a puller will work since it might not be safe to press against the end of the shifter shaft.
I'd need to see a pic.
I never saw mine as the dealer did it for me.

Got some needle nose pliers and was able to take off the old white plastic retainer. New one looks great. Definitely a positive mod. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I have a 2010 E63 and wanted to know if the 2012+ E63 steering wheels are a direct fit or additional hardware is needed. Airbags I assume do not transfer? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Alright, just did the shift knob swap. Ordered the knob from Germany on eBay. I also bought all of the lower console trim from 2014 console from an E63 S. Loving it so far. I have all of the parts from my 2010 for sale if anyone is interested in some cheap trim.

trim removal
How do you get the trim off so that I can get access to my electronic shifter? I need to clean the contacts because my car won’t go into park using the park button. I have to put the car in neutral and turn the car off to get it into park. I have a 2010 E. 63 AMG

find my old threads when i did my carbon
basically. slide ashtray cover open, then use a pry tool from the front and lift it up, like in the same direction u would be opening the hood of your car...pull up and then towards the ac unit
everything is a pull off, even the side trims

Dang that’s fancy.... i’ve got allot of money tied up in other upgrades right now — so that’s a bit too steeply priced.
