3rd row retrofit in AMG wagon? done.

No fab on uper and lower mounts.
However the shop had to cut the suede on the top roof to fit the plastic moldings. When they took the piece off it was already perforated as if the factory was planning to cut it. So they just cut on the line and fitted the plastic molding to the roof perfectly. Lower ones where the same you can pul it off and see the line where to cut the hole. Then again They fitted the molding. These guys really have it down pat and are willing to do it again. . Figure around 6k to make it factory and retain spare. It can be done for less. I bought every small trim piece, kept my spare, ETC. You can always buy a cargo cover from a 350. I just didn't want to be stuck somewhere with my kids and have to be flat bedded somewhere. AAA can come change the tire while we sit comfortably watching videos with the kids lollollol

Looks like not much cutting was required on that metal piece. Install looks great. I'll float the idea of putting it into my wagon again despite MB saying it's not possible with the rails.

agreed
Agreed, this is really something I would like to pull off also. Can someone provide the parts list? My seats are white, I wonder if they make the back seat in white.
If others who when trough this transformation, can you provide more pictures and perhaps how the operation works? I can't picture how the seat folds into the floor.
TIA
Ron

pali63... nice work... did your cost run about the same as the fellow from the original post?
I used the 3rd row in my '07 AMG wagon and wish I could have it now... In fact I can't wait to get rid of the Range Rover for the LR4 so we can have 3rd row again. Car pooling kids is not easy with only 5 seats.
Cheers

I can get all of the parts for you if you like (I've got a good relationship with my dealer's parts department). Cost is still hovering around $5,000 for all of the parts.

$5k and DIY or just get one fully installed.

maybe from a member here?
Based on this we know it works on a '14 AND with B&O. Didn't think it was possible.

Hello all 2012 -> e63 wagon / 3rd row seat must-havers. I am in process of purchasing a 2012 and very much want and likely ultimately need the 3rd row seat. Almost didn't buy it for this reason alone and then threw reason to the wind after test driving. I simply "couldn't not" have it. Anyway, I am in Charleston SC area and wondering if anyone knows of a shop in the southeast with the skill set to retrofit the mod. Planning to drive / use the wagon for a bit and when ready I will likely reach out to one of you to purchase parts unless a list / invoice is readily available and shared. Thanks in advance.

It looks completely factory and I retained my spare. Again thanks to the Amaizing work of my body shop. A good installer is the key. And now that they did one they have it down pat! If your in the Los Angeles area at all I would use them. I did loose the use of the cargo cover. You need to use one from the 350 it's a tad skinnier but I really had no use for it and having three kids I use the seat every day. I even fit a small McClaren stroller in between the third roe and back seat for the 1 year old. Best mod ever! The ship is Bair's keystone auto body. I
- would an older child about 5 feet tall be able to fit?
- is the metal piece that was cut a stress bearing component?
- would it fit with the B&O subwoofer? I think I saw someone post that it should fit.
Thanks!

If you can get all the parts then you must have a list of the parts needed. I'm in Florida and it would be better and less expensive to order the parts locally, and not have to ship them cross country. Please post the parts list or pm me with the list.
Thank you Gene

Wanting to delete my third row seats
LOL, I'm in the opposite situation - no need for it so I'm wanting to delete the third row seating from my 2016 E400 Wagon for a secure storage bin and the bonus of less weight.
Can I ask those that have done the conversion to add third row seats if there are any pitfalls I should anticipate?
Anyone in Western Canada interested in the parts for their own project?
Edit: black interior

revisiting this topic.. seeing 14+ wagons have built-in third row.. wouldn't it make sense to start tracking wrecked out wagons (tho they are far and few in between throughout the entire country) and minimally get the seatbelts + seats, then order parts to cover the rest of the conversion?

No 3rd row passengers for me
Not my area of expertise, but I think you're ignoring structural bracing.
The structural brace - which absorbs the major brunt of the impact energy - is located along the rear bumper.
If the vehicle hitting you from behind is taller than yours - an SUV, pickup, or commercial truck compared to a wagon - then the structural brace (hard point of impact) on that vehicle will be above the structural brace on your vehicle. It will plow right through the soft crumple zone and deliver severe consequences to the third row occupants.
On an SUV, there is a much better chance your rear brace is at the level of or higher than the vehicle hitting you. Unlike a sedan, with a large crumple zone, a wagon's third row passengers are in the crumple zone.
Again, not my area of expertise, I could be wrong. But it's pretty hard to imagine that rear hatch is not structurally soft, and you don't have the distance that a trunk or an engine bay give for energy absorption, so absent proof otherwise, I would not be comfortable having passengers in there.

Can this be done on a w211 E55 Wagon
Hello, I'm having trouble finding info on the 3rd row seat conversion in a w211 E55 Wagon so maybe someone here can shed some light on this. I have a potential of purchasing this 05 E55 wagon but it's missing the 3rd row seat and I don't think I can bring myself to buy if I can't have my 3rd row! I have a w210 E320 wagon and I love this option. So does anyone know if I can put a 3rd row seat in a w211 E55 Wagon? I know it was actually an option but they are rare to find with it.
Thanks in advance!
