Late 2014 Builds Missing Rear Headrest Release

I've been combing through all of the E63 listings on cars.com and I've noticed that some of the later build E63 Sedan and Wagons are now missing the button to lower the rear headrests from the front. This is the button that's immediately to the left of the hazard triangle where when pressed, it'll lower the second row headrests to the lowest position. Now that spot is simply blank. What gives?

I've also noticed some of the later 2014 builds now have the AMG logo in the center grille and MB has started changing over all of the car's exterior badging to the new smoother style typeface for the "V8Biturbo," "E63," and "AMG" lettering. As stated by another forum member who just picked up an E63 Wagon, his car was missing the "SAMG" badge on the trunk but had the other badges. I've noticed a few new cars on cars.com are also like this-- likely a shortage of the new style "SAMG" emblems.

My car was delivered a week ago today and does not have the rear headrest lower button (it is blank as you mentioned). I figured that they changed the design of the rear headrests, but I don't know.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
That's rather strange. Of course, that button is hardly used much. Those headrests are not like those of yester-years MB's when they can swing backward to be flat on the rear deck. The middle one is completely fixed, of course. What's this AMG logo in the center grill?

you know I really thought the center grille would have the amg logo but when i picked up mine it did not...
the remaining badges are exactly as expected..
as for the headrest button- mine has it- thats like a traditional E class feature- im surprised they got rid of it...

Well TBH it was completely useless in the W212, I used it often in the W211 when you could press the button to get the headrests out of your rear view.
In the W212 they are always in the way and when people get in the back they never have to raise them because they are already high enough for 90% of people.

Have you guys checked the IC menus or the Command system. When I saw the initial pics for the facelift interior I was surprised when I didn't see the multicontour seat controls next to the seat, I thought they removed the option. I later realized that they just moved the functions to the command system.

For the Non AMG W212 they removed the ESC button and moved that to the IC menu for the 2011 model year.

thats what i thought the controls would be; thats where they are on one of our other MBs; but the E63S came with the usual next to the driver seat control panel.
i still cant believe US specs doesnt have the active/dynamic seats for the passenger side

I don't have a picture of the 2014 E63 grille handy with the badge but it's similar to the new line of cars like the S63 coupe. The AMG badge is on the (American) driver side between the two blades:

2014 E63's seat controls are still physical buttons near the seat belt buckle for the multicontour/dynamic/massage functions. US still gets screwed by not having the option to add passenger multicontour/dynamic/massage functions from the factory.

Although it's a "feature" I wouldn't use often, I can't help but feel annoyed that it's something that seems to be taken out just for cutting costs and there's no way to get it back. I hate having blank spots on the switchrow. hehe

The way my luck is going with this car I'll finally get the car in september without badges, without the foldable headrests, without the new grille BUT with the creaking pano roof, bucking transmission and rear suspension problems that are happening!

With my luck they'll remove designo choices for 2015 which is what I'm really looking forward to and why I couldn't order a 14 with my timing.

I understand something weird happened with your first E63S order but I'm not exactly sure what. Do you mind sharing with me?

My car got dammaged while on the boat back in february and I had to reorder a new one... been waiting more than a year for this car... The only good news like my friend likes to remind me is that I feel like I own the car but I havent paid a cent for it yet!

I hope for you that they keep designo options (I dont see why not!) for 2015 and maybe add some more leather color choices!

your luck can't be worse than my luck! Though I would like some good luck with a benz for once.. (see my sig)

I'm hoping my '63 has no significant trans issues or suspension issues -- the two I test drove were perfect

My car has no blank buttons, but doesn't have a button to lower the headrests... just one to lower the sunshade. Delivered in October 2013, one of the first to Canada.

Do any other 2014 guys have the button to lower the headrests?

In my C63 I just removed them entirely and I've been contemplating this with the E, but would love to be able to keep them in and instead raise them up when someone is in the rear seat

Maybe it is a wagon only feature. I have a blank as I don't have the rear window screen.

Good point... the cars with blank space would be sedans without rear sunshade. Makes sense.

I've heard next button to go in american market cars (after folding mirrors/passenger side multicontour) is AMG button by the end of 2014... hurry to order your car before it's too late!

Did Mercedes-Benz give you any compensation for having a damaged car during trnasit kart125?

2013 and earlier cars are different in their switchrows because they used a different button layout.

All wagons have a missing button where the sunshade would normally be on the sedan. But now they will have two missing buttons.

Sedans will have one missing button next to the sunshade. Some early 2014s that I saw have a full switchrow with lowering headrests.

AMG button will be missing on newer cars? What's it replaced with? Just a blank area? Source?

No compensation, just the joy of having to wait another 4 months!

I was being sarcastic about the AMG button... seems MB is relentlessly removing fonctions that are standard in other markets, even in the middle of a model year.

It's not a wagon feature... the button was there I'm just a dumba$$

I remember not knowing what it was when I first got the car, pressed the button and nothing happened because the seats were already lowered as far as they would go.

that AMG logo on the front grill is nice... would give up my head rest button for that emblem as I never raise the headrests in the rear with two child car seats back there...

Is headrest lowering button in '14 useless feature?

I hear an unlock and a short electric motor noise. Then nothing happens. I am guessing they are already all the way lowered, yet they seem to be in a normal position and blocking part of the view still?
