AMG badged grill. Why some and not others.
I've done a similar mod on the front grille of my Saab 5 years ago... created a "base" with black plastic (recycled a black plastic flower pot and bent it with hot gun to create flat surface), glued it with hot glue to the Inside edges of the grille and then glued the BSR badge with double sided tape. Still looking good after 5 hot summers and 4 cold winters, multiple high pressure car washes and multiple attempts to remove it by my 3 y/o daughter (she has a good eye to "spot" everything that could potentially be removed.... on anything!).
So might be an option to "AMG" a grille the easy way.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
My OEM badge came in and when I brought my car in, they are unable to fix the badge without removing the whole bumper because of a steel bar behind the grille. Did you have the same issue? I decide to hold off fixing it cos it cost me a ridiculous amount of labour jut to fix that badge.

3M VHB tape. Preferably one that is black. The badge will never come off.
This install looks like it would take perhaps 0.05 hours of a tech's time.
I toyed with the idea of removing the grille - but - I have the illuminated star, noticed a wiring harness and was worried about screwing things up. Went with double sided tape - it mounts flush/not coming off. I'd just go that route too if I were you.
When you say the Affalterbach logo isn't stamped... where are you looking?
You should have it on your transmission knobette and on the front headrests....
Correction -- after reviewing my invoice, I see that my SA provided partial information. The techs removed and reinstalled my front bumper to install the badge. I can only imagine that this must be the prescribed MB service procedure for this installation. Otherwise, I'm sure they would take 5 minutes to install rather than the 2 + hours noted on the invoice. I wonder if MB Canada paid the dealer for the labour, because I sure did not.
Good grief. Whats the conversion rate of Canadian work hours to US work hours these days?
