E63 Changes from 2014 to 2015

I'm looking to move up from my E550 to the E63. I was going over the choices for 2015's with my dealer... The issue became I need the new car in mid October (long story).

The dealer suggested I search for a 2014 as there weren't any major changes from the 2014 to the 2015... Is this a true statement? If so, any comments on what to ask for a discount on the 2014?

Lastly, I was looking at the upgraded B&O music system -- do it really take up that much trunk space? is the sound worth the money?

Thanks for the help.

Yes
Biggest change besides some config packages (IE night styling now blacking out the window surrounds) is power folding mirrors std in the US for 15. Other minor things like the rear seat headrests dont automatically fold down anymore, color options for dinimica headliner, etc.

Nobody can tell if the B&O is worth your money, but I can say the stock stereo is good but not great. Our last car was a 2010 Audi with B&O (very low cost option when you get the upgraded interior package) and it's B&O was far better than our E63's stock system. But personally, I couldn't justify the huge cost adder in this car.

Yeah, it still pisses me off to go from a $50k car to a $100k car and have to deal with a far worse sound system. It's just not right.

Personnally, my car is THE place where I listen to the music I want the way I want to (usually louder than my wife and kids could tolerate). So the B&O option was worth it for me. I had a C class with HK and the difference is noticeable, but I havent tried the HK in an E class.

...and the side badges are slightly different. Most wouldn't notice but a friend at the dealership pointed it out. Top one is pre 15. Bottom is 15.

Actually it's a running change mid 14. Rear badges are also different.

Changes for USA for 15:

Sedans lose a trunk net.
Wagons and sedans lose button to lower rear headrests.

Wagons and sedans gain power folding mirrors.

Sedans can now order heated rear seats (previously only for non AMG sedans and all Wagons).

Night Styling has black window frames and roof rails (roof rails are wagon specific).

Choice of matching Dinamica headliner for gray or beige interiors.

Gray interior renamed Crystal Gray (forgot original name).

Diamond White and Cardinal Red rebranded as designo.

Take a look at this thread for more info: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...guide-dog.html

I have the B&O in my car and I'm really happy with it. Yes it's expensive but the whole car is expensive. The reality is with 577hp you'll still be stuck in traffic so the creature comforts are important. Can't see myself going back now.

I was told that the new music upgrade for the 2015 is a Burmester... that it doesn't steal the trunk space and the car has a full sized spare! This sounds too good to be true. Could this be correct?

Who told you that. The Burmester is available in the S Class and in the new 2015 C Class. But I have never heard of it being offered in the 2015 E Class.

Only for S and new C. Expect it to remain B&O for the high end stereo throughout the 212 E bodystyle.

Such a shame that the B and O kills the trunk room in the current E class. This kills the B and O for me as I need a real trunk.

I was worried about this pre-delivery before there were any pics of what it looks like. I took some photos of it in my delivery thread which you can see here. There is still lots of space in the trunk, you just have to pack a little smarter that's all!

Order the 14 if you have too or take what you can find. These cars sometimes take a while to receive when ordered as some people i know had to wait 8 months or so. My 14 only took 3 months but they are going to change the whole car in 2 years anyway. You won't notice any diff on a 15 so get in the car earlier so you can get out and get into the next body.

Way too late to order a 14 now. The last builds were a few months ago.

If you're very concerned about trunk space with the B&O there are a couple options. You can go the roof rack method + roof box for road trips to bring the spare along or get the wagon where B&O doesn't affect trunk space and retains the spare. I certainly don't expect people with the sedan and B&O to drive with the spare taking up all that room on an everyday basis.

Beautiful car. Love the color combo. As I thought, the B&O takes up more trunk room than I am comfy with. I like a flat trunk floor and the B&O leads to a large bump in the back of the trunk floor.

Oh well, looks like I would have to wait until the next body style to get the top stereo (likely going to be the Burmester which does not consume trunk room). But I can't wait so it will be the HK for me.

.
I am pretty sure that the B&O system only takes up room on the roof of the trunk, and that the bump on the back would be there for any E class sedan. Easy enough to check with a quick trip to a dealer.

As I recall, the trunk floor in my mothers W212 E350 is flat without a hump in the back.

My E63S has the bump in the trunk and I do not have the B&O. However, the B&O takes up space under the trunk floor, which means the cars with B&O do not have a spare tire.

To respond to my own comment... The person who had given me this information confirmed that they got confused when talking about the E63 S and the "S" class. I think it is a bit strange that MB calls the care the E63 S on the web site but, in ordering they call it the E63 P -- with the P for performance.

Sorry for the confusion -- I was hoping for the new system and my trunk.

Given the trunk issue -- What do people think of MBs run-flats? Has anyone driven the E63 or E550 with the run-flats? Love to here the pros and cons...

Thanks

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread... Thank you for your help.

I put in an order over the weekend for a 2015 E63S. It is supposed to arrive in late November -- I'll post pictures then.

I'm waiting to hear if they will use run flats and skip the spare that takes up 1/3 of the trunk... if I can get the B&O without the "bump" then I'll be getting it. But, I need the trunk to be flat so, if they can't then I won't be able to have the nice sounds...

Thanks again,

Congrats on your order. However, as noted above, it appears that all 2014s E63s have the "bump" in the trunk whether or not it has B&O. I do not have B&O and I have the "bump" in the floor of the trunk.
