Headlight fogging marking on inside covered under warranty?
My dealer is telling me that the fogging on the inside of my headlights on my 2011 e63 is normal and they won't repair it under warranty. It has exactly the same marks on each side clearly from heat or whatever on the lens. It is not condensation as it hasn't gone away at all and the marks are identical on both sides. Am I right or wrong to push on this?

just read that, ,my SA says the manager said its normal and they can't fix it. Also said some nonsense about the car had HIDS or something and the dealer I bought it from should have fixed it. I'm going to call Mercedes as plenty of people seem to be getting it warrantied.

Yes it should be covered. Mine are same way but out of warranty when I purchased the car so I live with it. Read the warranty closely then I suggest to verify with Mercedes USA then call a dealer that Mercedes USA recommends. It may work that way. Others on this forum may have some info on how they got their lights replaced.

EDIT: Dealer called me back after Mercedes spoke to them, said he would love to replace it, but Mercedes will just deny it. Funny how all the other dealers could seem to get it replaced. I'm thinking of trying to go to another dealer, however they are all owned by the same company so I don't know if that will be very fruitful.

I called Mercedes, they were basically useless, said the dealers are franchised and they can't do anything. I said don't you have district reps or something and he kind of went around the subject. I had a district rep come out for my mitsubishi years ago when they didn't want to replace the seat that had excessive play and they then replaced it. I can't believe I'm having a harder time with Mercedes.

I did, they won't do it, I might try another dealer, but I'd probably have to drive a bit as all the dealers around here are owned by the same company or do you think that doesn't matter?

I'm in South Florida. I sent thread and tsb to dealer. The said they noted my complaint and if it gets worse later maybe they do something. I've owned lots of cars and this is pathetic for a car that stickers new over 100k.

I went to coconut creek. Maybe I try pompano on Saturday. They all owned by auto nation though, I'd have to go to West Palm to find a dealer that's separate and I only have till end of next week and I work unfortunately.

I have an appointment wednesday, 2 days before my warranty expires to have the fort lauderdale dealer check my headlights and deal with the creaks in the car, most seem to be from the center console. They didn't have a loaner car before Wednesday. Hopefully I'll have better results. It kind of bothers me that my wifes 2010 Lexus Rx450H is silent aside from windnoise when driving and mine creaks over every bump. Still alot better than most cars I've owned, but still unacceptable.

Well, the RX is probably more cushy due to the type of car it is with the softer suspension. Lexus is well known to be sofa with wheels so it's not ideal to compare the two. E63 is completely different and likely more stiff so some creaks and squeaks shouldn't be unexpected.

I basically told them that they said the dealers are independent and its up to the dealer whether to fix it and the dealer is telling me that Mercedes won't warranty it. I wonder what the final response will be if anyone actually gets back to me?

After a couple of dealerships and 2 calls to MBUSA and a phone call with an escalated case manager at MBUSA, the dealership called me back and said they wanted to get me in today as the regional manager was going to be there. Took 10 minutes and they came back and said they okayed the headlights and they will change them this Tuesday. Really amazing to me that it has to go to these lengths but at least they are fixing it. And the really amazing thing is the dealers really wanted to do it but said Mercedes won't cover it.

I just hope they don't break anything while changing the lights, I understand they have to take off the bumper or some other pieces. They said like 2 hours for the job, that seems low for that kind of work.

While the bumper is off you can have them check the oil cooling fan and duct to make sure its clear of debris, Its on the lower right side behind bumper cover.
