Well...It's a hack....not exactly cheap. Longevity should be good;.. solid state, no moving parts. Doesn't abuse the vehicle (unless maybe if you ran it at the max setting constantly...and you really wouldn't want to do that.. It feels like a hack on our MIni, because the Mini already has a quick pedal-to-acceleration response. In my application (maybe not yours), I can bring the Mercedes response up to what I think it should be.

Would it be interesting to find out how lag corelates with lazy VVT below 1500.RPM ?
What do ya think?

absolutely - I've been on this platform since 2014 as you can see and it's amazing we are just now potentially finding a solution to the mct lag (oil solenoid thread) ... more to come

with the ecu and tcu and sprintbooster I have no complaints about the mct - understanding it's mechanical limitations - it still has to be driven a certain way to not cause violent bucking

Yeah that bucking is no joke when cold, that's for sure. And yes, mine still does it (as expected).

I actually had an exchange with Eurocharged regarding stage 1 TCU tuning to get rid of all the dumb behavior. One of their responses seemed to say it's impossible because of what I learned as deceleration fuel cutoff (DFCO) and how power can't be responsively applied right after slowing down. I call BS on that. I think it's really just VERY aggressive anti-lash and anti-abuse programming. MB may have learned either a refinement or durability lesson somewhere in the past and that is just standard issue. The torque converter cars do it, too. My 07 S550 does it. Sadly, my 04 E55 was VERY responsive to the throttle with none of this BS. I do think 4Matic tuning is worse (see my previous comments).

But yeah proper VVT operation does generally make the car better to drive, especially on the low end.

From what I see in my car its spark timing, specifically catalyst timing, that causes the bucking. So I set min timing to 3 deg, which is ~30 advanced over oem, and that basically fixed it. I doubt any tune will do that unless you specifically requested it.
My throttle delay varies. From a dead stop its very responsive, almost like a Holley carburetor, but at say 25mph the delay can be pretty bad, unless I downshift first.
