Still can't believe this happened to me, anyway, called the insurance, filed a police report, smelled exhaust in the car so it will be towed to the body shop tomorrow. Kinda freaking out since I am very OCD about my cars and once it's been in a crash I always feel like there'll be something off especially in a precision machine like AMG, what if there will be some minor body deformity that cannot be found but will totally screw up the handling, etc. The back door now does not close once I popped it open and the panels on the side in the back are misaligned now.
I use a very good body shop in the area, they repair Aston Martin and the like, and I had very good experiences with them before but a car like this, I am afraid that even a millimeter off center will make it a much lesser car than what it should be.
One thing I'll say is that MB is like a tank and really protects you, I'm 100% ok, no pains or aches anywhere.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, just had to vent somewhere.
It is a PITA but a car is just a thing. Nobody died or got hurt badly. And you may like the rental car and if not, then you will like your E63 even more.
Big storm in australia NSW, My e63 amg and Ls3 got flooded with water, you're really lucky to have gotten away with just a rear end.
There is water all through my car and wont even turn on.
The worst part is the 20% loss you will received from diminished value if you ever try to trade your car in because it will have an accident on the carfax report. I had a Porsche that got hit a few years ago. Minor fender bender but I lost a lot of money when I decided to sell it because the carfax wasn't clean.

Did you try making a diminished value claim against the other driver's insurance or is it a total waste of time?
I didn't sue the insurance company because I felt like I'd lose more money and never get a payout trying to take big company to court. The guy that hit me had some shady insurance company and it took them over a year to pay State Farm the money back for fixing my car so I figured I felt I had no chance to recoup my loss. Yet my car was 4 years old when it was hit and yours is only 1 month old so I'd do some research and see if it is worth it for you. There are companies that will sell you diminished value reports that you can use to take to court. Your vehicle should be worth over $100K and the accident can cost you between 20-30% so it may be worth it for you.
It's a small side road onto a state highway, what happens is that
people look to the left to see for break in traffic and then once they see that break, in their rush to merge in they forget to check for the car in front and floor it. They guy said that he thought I was moving already.
Second time I've been rear ended there, from now on will avoid that area (yeah, smart me, I know).

I'm not sure what's worse though...once you change the geometry of the frame, you can utterly ruin the way the car handles, get vibration that never goes away no matter what, etc. But yeah, sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I've been waiting to get rear ended just like this. There is an intersection i travel through on most days where I see people getting rear ended just like you did.
This intersection sort of curves to the right where the small road joins the hwy. It is easy for someone to be looking left and not realize the first car in line has not gone, especially if it looks like they could/should have but for whatever reason they didn't.
When I am first to turn on to the hwy I try not to advance too far to the right and I hang back a little from the white line at the stop sign in effort to avoid getting hit.
At least it wasn't hard enough to break the rear glass. That should be fixed just fine, BUT it looks like they may have gotten the exhaust tips on the right side. If that's the case, good luck getting them straight and aligned with each other again.

The car is 5 foot under water with the flood that happened, wont start and the interior is just drenched nothing works... Just have to wait to see what happens with insurance, a lot of people had it worse losing homes and unfortunately 4+ people lost their lives and few missing, I'm in no position to think about a car atm just trying to help everyone out in the time of need and make sure they are okay.

The other party's insurance did contact me about my diminished value claim and had an appraiser go and look at my car, waiting for them to get back to me...it's been a week, will give them another day and then will call.
YA, thats what I thought too 27 grand, crazy. I lived in MA and the only time I got rear ended was getting onto Rt 9 in Wellesley many years ago, like you said people are looking left and when they see an opening stomp on it.
