Did You Know The W212 AMG's Hood Can Open 90 Degrees

To W212 Members - Read If Your Interested In What "I" have learned about my hood.

This is especially helpful when you are viewing your engine or just want to work on it.

If you want to do the same. Just push the hood back the first click or when you think it'll open as much as it can, push it back until you get to a 90 degrees vertical position
and it'll look like this.

Not sure if it'll work with the NA V8s, but I think it's worth a try.

I hope this helped. If not, excuse this thread and move on. Thanks.

If it does the same on the e63 then THANKS A LOT, for the post. That would be very cool and I was not aware of it. My 2000 E55 certainly did not do that.

BTW, even if the v8 does not, still thanks for the post.

Hey Vrodman,

From what I remembered, your just got the 2011 W212 AMG E63. Your hood can do the same.

Can't be sure if your pass E55 did the same, but your 2011 AMG E63 will do the same.

Have fun with your new toy. I know how fun it is to trying to get to know your car and what it can do.

Way COOL! Thanks my man.

I was just watching a youtube video review of my car and saw YET ANOTHER cool surprise.

It showed that the back seat will fold forward and create even more trunk space!

I wanted to go verify and I DONT HAVE MY BELOVED NEW FAMILY MEMBER as it is at the dealer for warranty work. Going through HP withdrwawal with the loaner C 250 they gave me.

I also saw another review with some type of pullout shelf under the rear deck when trunk is open for tailgating or something.

Do I have that too or is it an option?

Thanks Again.

My C63 did the same also. It's an AMG "trademark".

If you plan on doing a Rebellion tune on your 5.5 biturbo that feature is quite practical to get to the boost sensor in back of engine!!

The trunk item is called comfort box and it was optional ... It's pretty ingenious I use it often

Glad it's under warranty as it takes a beating

Here is the Comfort box or storage shelf I believe your taking about. Also a photo of the spilt folding rear seat.

Yes
As I recall, All AMGs I've owned since 08 do that, FWIW, and I don't think it's an AMG specific thing, each model would also have it as well I would think.

I can't speak for other Mercedes classes, but my W212 E350 and AMG E63 can both do it so it's not specific to AMGs.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
It's a nice feature to have. Luckily it's not offered as an option.

My w204 and W212 do it. It's not just an AMG thing, it's a Mercedes thing.

Just the same way you did before.

Or you can leave it open like and back up quickly and the wind should knock it close. Not recommended

Hmm is that comfort box dealer installable? Looks silly but also insanely practical.

Yes, mine were dealer installed and it's very convenient say you got some food to go and you don't it it get it all over your interior. It does the job cleanly and the comfort box is easily removed.

Love the comfort box but it seems like the mechanism will fail soon with frequent use ... Will warranty it up as often as I can
