Thanks Bro. Ironically, I had my friend who owns a Mercedes dealer take the ECU out for me and then install it for me after Renntech sent it back to me. The dealer installed the exhaust as well and it sounds like a monster. I have a pretty big house and our master bed room is on the other side of the garage and when I start the car in the morning, everyone hears it. FYI, race a few E63s and I felt sad for them because I was stock once.

As far as I learned on YouTube, it's a software update. I don't think Renntech drilled anything or as far as I can see, but I can be wrong. Are you saying other tuners ( maybe even Renntech ) drills the actual ECU?

yes many threads on this topic when the car first came out....some say they do some dont....if u look at top of your ecu there may be a silver painted dot

I looked everywhere on the ECU and can't find a hole that looks to be drilled or otherwise a silver painted dot. It was my understanding it was a Renntech computer with a cable connecting to the ECU, is that wrong ?
Nope, have not got it dyno, but probably will one day. So far, my car runs a lot stronger then when I first bought it so I tend to believe Renntech i now has 680hp and 780ft. of tq.

Its one or the other but its not an OBD II input - we know this for sure. Some tuners heat up the glue and open up the board while others do the drill which is actually safer because it eliminates the chance of board flexing.

I think some chip that controls the boost and other parts that can change the tq curves and other performance factors. I haven't done enough "asking" when I got these tunes and instead just did a lot of driving.

I'm guessing weather the tuner heats up the glue to take apart the ECU or drilling it, if something is wrong after the ECU tune or remapping, just contact the tuner and send it back for a fix. That is what Renntech told me before I sent my OEM ECU to them.

Bud, I do know how to take the center console apart, but was wondering if someone knows someone I can send the center console to and have it overlay or do you or anyone know a DIY where I can do it myself?

I'll do some digging, I've seen w212 owners (I think???) with actual carbon parts ... Will get back to you when I find something
