Repair AMG 10 spoke matte black rims
Anyone had any experience repairing road rash / rock chips on these rims (AMG matte black)?
I thought matching the matte black finish might be an issue with the repair. One shop said the paint finish will be richer than the un-repaired rims until it fades. Not really interested in that.

I would have the lip machined and the black touched up. If you go through the process of refinishing, it'll never look the same.
Or, you could just do all four of them a different color. Brushed never hurts.

I can't believe they can't match the color just because it is matte.
The guy said he can't just touch it up as it would stick out even more.

It'll be less conspicuous on vasha's recomendation and you won't have a rim that sticks out visually

I am too much of a perfectionist to not have it look the same.
For the price of two iPhones I can just buy a new rim but think I'll wait until after winter.
I'll use the marked up ones for winter.
In the age of technology I don't understand why things can't be repaired to 99% of how they were before. Unless MB uses some sort of high tech powder coat process or something, if you got the paint code you would think it could be matched.
Oh well.
Thanks for the input!

I talked to two shops. The first shop said the color would be richer, the second shop said they should be able to match it. Who to believe?! It can't hurt to go in and have them look to see what they think I guess. HPMan, what shop in Van? Panther?

Repair AMG 10 spoke matte black rims
I've had my brushed/polished HREs repaired several times due to curbing by someone other than me in the household and they always come out looking new. But yes black is more difficult to match especially matte. You could have all wheels refinished so they all look the same.
Besides the curbed wheels how is your car treating you?

Any update on this? Anyone else go through with this yet on an OEM matte black wheel?

I thought matching the matte black finish might be an issue with the repair. One shop said the paint finish will be richer than the un-repaired rims until it fades. Not really interested in that.
