It appears Weistic also puts out more HP than Renntech. 608(their claim) at the wheels which is equivelant to roughly 740 at the crank.

Jeez. I've just seen a few horror stories about Weistec. That makes me uneasy.
It also appears that Eurocharged is a dealer for Weistec.

Please elaborate about the horror stories. I'm thinking about either AMS or Weistec for my tuning needs.

I have no previous experience nor do I know anyone who has had personal experiences with them. But when I've searched the forum I've found more horror/upset consumers with Weistec than I have for AMS, Eurocharged, & Renntech. I would suggest you do a search on your own. I don't want anyone to think that I'm bashing a vendor. What may be a horror story to me may not be to you. My CLS is a '14 CPO & I bought it with 211 miles on it so it's practically new. If I had issues with the tune I'd prefer to have the tuner be local. That way the issues can be addressed before having to deal with MB. So to me, the negative experiences that I found on the forum in regard to Weistec would be a horror story for me because they are not local to me. I hope that better explains my outlook. I am also not able to find much on AMS in regard to the CLS550. I'm intrigued, but it's just hard to find info. I know they're huge with the GT-R.

Happy to report. Raced a AMG GT S on an open stretch freeway and the AMS turbo really worked its magic. The guy didn't even know what hit him.

look at the mph... that tells the real story... 135 is faster than the fastest e55 that ran 10.399 @134

and the alpha 9 package is about 10K.... about what most e55 guys pay for headers, pulleys, h/e, trunk tank, tune, and TB it takes to get a e55 to same mph

with better traction this car is probably in low 10's

You certainly have your right to your opinions, but I like to share what I've done in the hopes members who was thinking of tuning their E63 is able to communicate with other members that has done it.

When I first started to tune my E63, there are members that have tuned their beast, but wasn't the route I wanted to go so I was getting some of the information I needed from the forum and other times I just play by ear.

I see members on this forum whom wanted the tune, but was afraid to void the warranty or the tune will go bad. I thought it was a good way to communicate.

Not insecure nor showing off. There are allot more better E63 on this forum and on the road. I think this forum is a great way to share, communicate our cars or I as many of you wouldn't be on this forum as offten as we are.

Nothing to do about weight, its the fact that nobody (other than brabus) has full access to the ECU. we can't dail back torque at RPM range, we can't extend the slip/traction.
The car bogs down literally for the first few seconds. Look at the 1/8th mile times and you can see that 200 HP additional make little difference. Mercedes has and always will aim for reliability, an this is mainly because of the amount of TQ which affects the gearbox.allot of the tuners will tell you that they can change the TQ numbers but they can't through the RPM range until we crack he ECU. if that happens you would see 1500HP E63s with big turbos all day long. I know of two separate ppl working on a custom motec setups but they can't get it to work and giving up..

in the end the 5.5TT should be a phenomenal platform for uber numbers. but until they crack the ECU or get a standalone to work it will always be limited by the safety MB placed on the system. none of the tuners will admit to it.. and yes i had driven or owned tunes from all of the top 4. until they get their hands on an "enigma machine" they can only turn it up so far with the limitations they have

That's my point...and why it's sad. And I can't believe it's a traction issue...unless nobody knows how to buy race tires. The mph indicates the power is there so either MB's tq limiting is once again preventing full power during all throttle applications or nobody knows how to drive the biturbos yet.

This is what I've been saying for almost a decade. The E55K still doesn't have proper tuning and it's been out since 2003!!!

Not to mention that 10.39 was using a nice shot of Nitrous, & full boltons.. So tot uncomparable extremely temporary power.. After that bottle's empty in couple runs that same E55 will run basement 11's
http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...lip-26334.html

Also the Alpha9 e63 2wd was ran in scortching July heat etc.. The 135 Trap shows it's capable of the same basement 10's w/a similar 60' in favorable DA weather..

Now the E63 AWD model w/ECU & exhaust only, again in Summer DA w/100% humidity runs 10.85 @ 129+mph What does a 10 yr old e55 w/ECU/dwn pipes/catback run? 12.5 -12.0 @112-117 mph

The new V8 Biturbo's are leagues ahead period..

So Brabus has more access to the ECU than a former AMG director (Renntech)? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm being serious. I had no idea.

exactly... and the AWD one that did the 10.85 is down about 100 whp from the alpha 9 turbo package that the op has.... so i would assume if someone gets the same package the op that ran 135 got, and put it on the AWD version then should see low 10's

and people also forget that these e55s running low 10's are in full drag gear (MT drag radials, skinny's up front, weight reduction, etc...), not same setup they are running on the street....on street tires and on imperfect asphalt they will be lucky to run in the 11's (i could never get my e55 to run anywhere near as fast on the street as it did on the sticky track with sticky track tires) whereas the e63 awd's are running 10's on street tires will run pretty consistent on the street to what they did at the track....something to think about when others are looking at dragtimes

i would vote for option 1, as the op said in post 32 that he didnt have slicks.... though i find that hard to believe and still be in the 10's

Did the installer need to pull the engine out to access and swap out the factory turbos for the new turbos?

Some of the new semi-slick summer tires are awesome. Toyo RA1's are all the rage with the high horsepower rwd crowds.

I would not be surprised - Brabus is building the Mercedes Pullman.

Gotcha.
I've been hard-pressed to find any info regarding Brabus tuning the CLS550 tho.

brabus has the same access as the other tuners...i dont think there is anythign hidden with these tuners nowadays the way they can hack into ecu's ...

their tune for this engine is with a 6.0 liter increase in size...so it should be most powerful but never seen one run...mythical

You must be talking about some other platform because there isn't a single Mercedes tuner that has hacked into anything more than rudimentary ECU/TCU files.

go with the R888's instead... I have run both and the R888's stick way better for straight line acceleration and good out of the box, while the RA1's need to be shaved down the 5/32's tread depht to really work good.

and due to the tread pattern of the RA1's they are a lot more squirmy under hard acceleration than the R888's

they both last about the same 4 to 6K miles on street since they are both competition R compound tires

2nd that on the R888's they hook very hard on the street, only problem I had w/them is they're super noisy @ reg crusing or frwy speeds... Though mine were 335/30/18 & the extreme width may have amplified it quite a bit..
