So who was patient enough to follow break-in instructions?

new e63 wagon owner. Finding it very difficult to a) rack up the miles and b) not floor the car so I can hear the intoxicating v8 roar.

Also does anyone else have the sticker claiming the diff fluid needs to be changed at 1400 miles for break in?

Just put on distronic (if you have it) or simple cruise-control and ride along some highway for hours early morning / late @ night. You don't need to constantly floor it to enjoy the V8 - you can hear that growl even on low revs, it'll still give you a nice smile on your face

Although I solved the break-in issue for this one the easy way: just bought a car with 1800 miles on it And yes, the rear axle diff (the one that is standard on S models and options on others) oil has to be changed at 2000 miles according to the manual / W212 service sheet.

I gave my dealer a call and they didn't mention anything about the oil or anything having to be changed except at the regular scheduled maintenance, maybe I should talk to someone else there lol

Hehe, for sure. Direct them here, for instance. Page of interest - 18, "Additional maintenance work" section. -> Only for Mercedes-AMG vehicles with self-locking rear axle differential (Code 471) or AMG Performance Package (Code P30) or AMG Handling Package (Code P30).

What's the expected cost of getting the diff oil changed at a dealership?

Sorry, no idea how it works in US as I was buying my car in UK with 1800 miles on it and the seller did it for me free of charge + the dealership also changed the motor oil+filter prior to delivery.

I guess US E63S owners can comment.

The way these cars are built now you really don't need to "break them in"...drive hard from the day you get it and have fun!
