E63 AMG 2016 - minor cosmetic issues (grille and hood not completely aligned)
What do you guys think?
I am talking about the hood not being aligned symmetrically with regards to the grille assembly

Mine looks perfect ...2014E63S
Was that in an accident?

I would take it back to the stealership and kindly ask them to fix it.
Worth a try before you roll to the dealer. Good luck!

The best or nothing
I think I will play a bit with these screws over the weekend to see if I can align the grille to the point where it is up to my personal spec.
Also the dealer has complimentary breakfast which is nice.

Heck, just 10 years ago if you didn't get spit upon at a dealership, you considered that good service.

Seriously, though, it took me 2 hours in traffic to get to the damn dealership and back and had to cancel a meeting for that.

I'll get the wrench and try to fix it myself since it will take far less time than fighting traffic and spending my time at the dealer and I feel like tinkering once in a while. If not I'll either address this at the time of the first service or bring it to the body shop where I know the owner (it's near my office too).
Did it after I looked over my father in law's Subaru Legacy which has perfect gaps and no asymmetry - and it is a 26K car, built in Indiana. It is kinda ridiculous.
The service adviser brought the car out so I could drive home, was pointing out the bumper part they replaced, and he right away noticed the hood was off center (or really the bumper was off center)...there a wider gap on the driver-side headlight, and a too-tight gap on the passenger-side headlight.
He said his technician was actually worried about that happening, so he told me to take my car to the Benz-certified body shop down the road, and tell them to send him the bill.
I'm really impressed, as I know I would have noticed the gap issue the next time I cleaned the car, but I definitely would have gotten out of the dealership without noticing it myself.
Not sure if that helps your situation, but just reporting my experience.
Left it at the dealership, then picked it up - still not done properly. Of note, they did fix the whistling noise that I noticed. Over 2 hours in traffic.
Looked at many new E series cars on the lot - some were aligned perfectly, others were just horrible.
Took it to a body shop near my office where I had repairs done to other vehicles before and they fixed everything in 10 minutes - for free as a favor. Everything is fixed to "my spec" now.
Was told that most new luxury cars are like that, thin plastic and complex curvy designs, cut corners where possible, 99.9% of people don't notice and don't care.
The last three e classes I've had or in the family have been perfect cosmetically 3x 2014 and 1x 2016
Clearly though they are slacking in quality control ... Your experience and many others on the forum has spoken to that
But he's right, most people won't notice or care
The body shop was always the best decision and the service advisor should have considered a Benz authorized body shop to help with reimbursement to you
