Does this Carfax look weird?

Hi Guys,

I'm usually on the W204 boards, but I'm considering an W212 E63. I found one but the Carfax (AutoCheck) report says that its a 2010 model and has had 5 owners. Thats about 1 owner per year! Should this be a concern? The car has always been in Southern California and its at a CarMax now if that matters. The title history is attached. Thoughts? Red Flag?

Check the engine number for the head bolt problem. Looks like some of the liens were title loans. Any accidents? Is there a comprehensive list of dealer services and repairs done?

I would stay away. One new owner per year does rise red flags and the next owner will be the 7th owner and be asking the same thing you are.

Head bolt issue is a known issues with the NA E63 ( some ).

Best of luck.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
That many owners make me uncomfortable. Almost for sure it's in the affected headbolts group.

You can get the engine number from a Mercedes Dealer if you have the VIN.

I would think that car has had three owners which is not terrible for a 2010. The way some DMV offices report information to carfax makes it sound like it had multiple owners and it hasn't. You can see on Carfax where it was advertised three times for sale.

Send a PM to ?Valvestud with the VIN and he'll be able to tell you the engine number.

I would say get some more facts. If the only issue you have with the CarFax is # of owners then see what you can find out. One way I read it is that whoever bought this car must have financed it and when he/she refinanced the car it got re-registered to show a new lien-holder (because he/she does not own the car, the bank does). This is a common issue with CarFax & "# of owners" as someone mentioned earlier in this string. You might be able to find out that there was only 1-owner with multiple refis and that could help remove this concern for your decision to purchase. BTW: this happened to me when I refi'd my 911; it added another owner to the CarFax.

2011 E63 AMG
Engine 156985 60 051708

This engine falls into the group with head bolt issues. Don't buy an 6.3na with a number under 61000 (it's actually 60658 if I remember correctly).

Or buy an extended warranty.

this is carmax... and their extended warranty is known to be legit.. as far as jalopnik readers are concerned... and cheaper than OE MB...

i like the '13 @ Carmax a lot as well... cept it has high miles, but it also has P30, though no carbon fiber.
