2010 Mercedes E550 and a 1997 S600 Coupe
Just curious, I've got a 2013 E550 with the 4.7 twin turbo V8, will this kit fit? I'd be interested in it if it does fit my engine.

Just to clarify, the M278 Mercedes 550 4.7 Biturbo and the M157 AMG 63 5.5 biturbo use the same kit and both cars use same air filters and air box sizes.

They do for me too. Looking to see if anyone has a fix for this. At the end of the day it is only cosmetically off a bit though so not too stressed about it.

The kit works great for me, the only issue I had was a minor cosmetic issue of the main middle engine cover does not fit flush anymore it has to be bent slightly for the clips to fit into the airboxes. Eventually I'll work on it to see if I can make it fit properly or maybe find an aftermarket cover that looks a little better. If anyone makes one haha

Of course, this is an expected cosmetic downside of any brand airbox spacers. The same thing with UPD and VRP spacers. The problem is that the rigid turbo ducts remain in the same spot, but the airbox top cover moves up by 20mm. Ideally, the interconnect rubber sleeve shall 'adapt' to the 20mm rise, but it does not. The original duct connection is reused without adaptation.

And so the airboxes tilt towards the engine middle and forward. This creates a mostly cosmetic problem with attaching engine covers. The clip eyelets in the back of the airboxes shift up and tilt toward the engine. This puts a squeeze on the central engine cover from the wings. The central cover bows upward even more and disengages from the midpoint clips. The ECU appears way down in the 'hole.' The small engine side covers also sit about 1 cm higher and must tilt forward even more to engage the front posts. Although this issue does not affect performance, but does not look good either.

A simple compromise solution is to install 6 post stand-off extensions: 4x M6 12/25mm stand-offs for the ECU, and 2x M6 12mm stand-offs for the side covers. You need 2x 12mm for the front ECU stand-offs and 2x 25mm for the rear. There are excellent close-up photos earlier in the thread. Source M6 hex stainless steel stand-offs from eBay (~$20) or McMaster-Carr (~$60). The middle clips of the center cover remain disengaged (can be ignored, really). You can install eyelet risers. The resulting look is much better and almost OEM.

Black Friday sales at Ultimatepd.com ...M157/ M278 Customers have been installing our kits seamlessly for 8 years now and all it takes is loosening up both sides of the rubber hose, leave everything loose until you lock boxes in place and then tighten up the clamps. Same thing on my personal and just like changing out air filters. Very simple and clean look VS using parts that are not welded and may leak or alter the engine bay looks dramatically that the dealer may get butt hurt.

car and it is as easy as changing air filters.

I believe the reference is to the main competing spacer product that is a set of interlocking bars forming the spacer frame. In contrast, the UPD spacer frame is welded and anodized; therefore, offering better air seal and not attracting unwanted dealer attention/criticism. Did I get this right?

Has there been thought of adding some kind of a rubber piece to help the air seal? I have had two p1ce7 codes (one 6 months after the other) where I have to take off the UPD intake & re-tighten it.

It's fairly easy to take off the intake, re-tighten, & then clear the code, but I'd rather not have to. It seems like it would be helped with some kind of compressible seal between the pieces.
