Just to clarify, the M278 Mercedes 550 4.7 Biturbo and the M157 AMG 63 5.5 biturbo use the same kit and both cars use same air filters and air box sizes.

UPDATE: I "unpinched" the middle clips on the engine cover to provide better grip and they actually stay put. It looks a LOT better now, the engine cover is no longer "bowed". There is still a small gap between the ECU and the cover though. It would be nice if there were some sort of spacers that could go under the ECU to raise it up (hint, hint).
And so the airboxes tilt towards the engine middle and forward. This creates a mostly cosmetic problem with attaching engine covers. The clip eyelets in the back of the airboxes shift up and tilt toward the engine. This puts a squeeze on the central engine cover from the wings. The central cover bows upward even more and disengages from the midpoint clips. The ECU appears way down in the 'hole.' The small engine side covers also sit about 1 cm higher and must tilt forward even more to engage the front posts. Although this issue does not affect performance, but does not look good either.
A simple compromise solution is to install 6 post stand-off extensions: 4x M6 12/25mm stand-offs for the ECU, and 2x M6 12mm stand-offs for the side covers. You need 2x 12mm for the front ECU stand-offs and 2x 25mm for the rear. There are excellent close-up photos earlier in the thread. Source M6 hex stainless steel stand-offs from eBay (~$20) or McMaster-Carr (~$60). The middle clips of the center cover remain disengaged (can be ignored, really). You can install eyelet risers. The resulting look is much better and almost OEM.

It's fairly easy to take off the intake, re-tighten, & then clear the code, but I'd rather not have to. It seems like it would be helped with some kind of compressible seal between the pieces.
