Sharp steering wheel pieces cut me! E63 BiTurbo

Anybody else have this happen? All those plastic edges on the steering wheel spokes are like razor blades, they have cut me numerous times. Anybody tried to file these down or anything? Check out the pic.

What part on the steering wheel cut you??? I have nothing like that on mine... Just de-burr that edge with a straight metal edge like a flathead screwdriver or the folded edge of some 1000 grit sandpaper... Mask off the non sharp parts to avoid scuffing the finish

He shouldn't have to do that. I'd take it to the dealer... because if you end up doing something like that and then perhaps messing it up, it's on you. I know it's a relatively simple task, but maybe it's worth bringing it up to them and have them take care of it accordingly.

It is the plastic piece at the back towards the instrument cluster on each piece of plastic where you would have your fingers (inside the wheel). Pretty annoying.

Called my dealer and he was shocked and asked me to bring it in, so they are stepping-up.

Glad nobody else is having these issues, and I have manly hands!

The steering wheel cut you.... LOL

You really mean to say that you cut your finger on a sharp edge on the steering wheel.

Kinda like saying the the deer hit your car, No really you hit the deer.

I'm sure the dealer will resolve any problem regardless. Or just borrow your old ladies nail file.

I have actually started feeling sharp edges on the silver plastic of the steering wheel. It is bothersome, but mine isn't sharp enough to cut me, yet.

Dealer replaced that silver cover, under warranty. They had them in stock..... So might be more common than you think.

Just experienced this same thing. The bottom of the chrome piece on the steering wheel is like a razor! Sliced right into my finger while turning as my hand just glided right over it after letting it come back to center after mid-turn. Gonna take it to the dealer and see what they can do. This was deep and cut like a wedge.

I have had the same issue on the lower, right side of the steering wheel. I just try to avoid it not sure how to resolve. I am no longer under warranty and curious if they will replace anyway. If not, any clue if easy to snap off/on?

So my 2014 wheel is doing this too. Pretty sharp too, but luckily I just grazed it and didn't get more that a scratch. It still is a little offputting to have it happen.

I noticed both the top and bottom of the plastic starting to warp. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow.

I had the same problem and replaced my steering wheel this year with an aftermarket one. I've seen video's on youtube where a guy has the same issue and shows you how to replace the bracket with a new one. I just changed my whole steering with with another one.

Mine was the same way too...

I took the deco trim off and just ever so slightly sanded down the offending edge. Yes, mine cut me too. 2012.
Don't know if they'll deal with this out of warranty, unless you show em that bloody picture above....

I had this happen on my car also. It was replaced under warranty. I'm not sure they will cover it under warranty, but here is the piece for $53.10. https://www.autohauspartsdelivered.c...09946400139107

Do you mean the silver on the trim is peeling and it cut you? I can see how that happened.
