what are you doing about the "V" headlights?
My 2012 e63 definitely has the V and even a T over it. Any fixes for it or do I have to buy new headlights? It makes the car look old with it, even the LED strip on the bumper I feel like is a little on the blurry side

just took my car in for service B. I mentioned it to my SA and when i picked it up I was surprised to see that they replaced both under warranty. From what i read the V will come back we'll just have to see how long before it does.

My 2012 just came back from what is most likely last service (B service) while under original warranty (expires May 2016). The SA explained, like in other posts, MBUSA "cleans" the lens from the inside to remove the "V" - they look brand new now. However, just like others have said, the "V" is expected to come back. Some have said they are getting replacement headlights but the norm lately appears to be cleaning. Below is how the "V" used to look and sadly i don't have a new pick yet because my car is back in service... appears they forgot to attach a vacuum hose properly when it was in last week.

In the interest of keeping the "V in the headlight" conversations linked for the ease of future reference, here's another...

I ended up changing my headlights since MBUSA denied any knowledge of such issues and claimed they never received any complaints. I was lucky to source a new set for less than what dealer wanted for 1 side and an MB tech I know did install. Could not be happier... light output is amazing. The V shows a little with lights on but disappears when the lights are off. One thing I noticed is that when the lights are on, the V shows a little but if I wipe the headlight with a microfiber towel it almost completely goes away. Seems the heat causes some kind of static on the outer lens which attracts dust/pollen. I hope I'm explaining correctly but it is possible that keeping headlights clean can prolong the V from getting real bad. It's possible the dirt/dust on outer headlight can cause even higher temperatures at the focal point of beam on inner lens. Call me crazy but it may contribute a little.

The dealership uses a special tool? You have a pic or a name of this tool, kind of like a buffer that goes through the back of the headlight socket hole?

It looks like that may be a MB part number there. I'll stop by the dealer in the morning and ask them.
I wet sanded and polished my high milage headlights and they look brand new but I always thought that the V was burned into the lense. I didn't know it could be cleaned from the inside.

i ordered that part # from the dealer and they have no clue what it is, I guess ill see when it gets here. The second part # is just a cleaning solution so im getting the first part # is the flexible wand with the that brush or sponge on the end.

For reference, here is the V in my headlights a few days after coming back from the Dealer when they "cleaned" the inside of the lens with the "tool"... not impressed It's not as visible during the day without the lights on but clearly not gone. I hope your results turn out better which i'm sure any of us can do better than the Dealer. NOTE: my "before" pick is earlier in this thread.

That's pretty much my situation (the V is visible with lights on)... I'm trying to consider it a coolness factor. The SA told me that they do not remove the headlight and instead come in through the back

My headlights were replaced in Nov 2015. I immediately put my car up for the winter then pulled it out in April '16 and in May the "V" was already back.
