New Member on the hunt for an E63 AMG
Hi all, hoping this stirs up some good debate. I'm looking to purchase an E63 AMG. Trying to determine if the 07'-11' model or a 12' -13' model is the best fit. Love the power in the 07' I test drove. Also drove a 13' with the dealer ride along and I was a puss about it so I did not get the full experience. Both ride nice but the cost difference is big for comparable miles.... Is the extra $ for the 12' model worth the extra horsepower or comforts?
Thanks in advance for sharing

I prefer the 2011 E63 NA engine making sure there is no head bolt issue. I do like the 2012 but am holding off until the twin turbo engine is proven to go beyond 80k miles with no oil seal problems with the turbos.

2012 + tune and downpipes and you are in McLaren territory on speed. You can't do much to the NA motor to really improve the performance, whereas with the 5.5 twin turbo the thing is just like a set of building blocks - how high do you want to go?
Love the older E63, but you know you want the newer model!

2016 G63 AMG
Easy answer to me. Buy the newest nicest car you can that's within your budget with the best factory warranty. So I would go for a 12-13 w low miles and cpo. A 2007 is 9 years old, sounds crazy!

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
I love my 2010 - a few tweaks made it visually more appelaing and then a EC tune dyno-tune naafter deleting the secondaries and putting an x-pipe in..... great growl...
That said the options for the 5.5TT are tempting..... just factor in the entry point....
For me a 35k car with 35k felt right.... and I love the snarly 6.2L motor.
Best of luck in the hunt !

IMHO 10-11 NA motor, going for around $40K with low mileage all over the place. Not bad considering it stickered for around $95-108k
Just get it checked out buy a good shop and have them check the head bolts.

Made my choice and ready to live with it!
Thank you all for the input. When it comes right down to it, this decision was more about personal feel than I thought it would be. Purchased a gun metal gray 2012 AMG Performance Package (550HP is insane!!!) . Decided I was not likely to do any aftermarket power upgrades so this car fit the bill. 42k miles, looks and drives like a dream!

That's a 12? I like the grill...heck, I like everything! Enjoy it. If you think 550 hp is fun, try something closer to 670! Power is my kind of drug.
Enjoy, your car is awesome.

Love the exterior/wheel color combo!
I said the same thing about keeping the car stock but plans changed.
