If the dealer wanted to decline any warranty work, the downpipes will be a good excuse for them use.

Good point. My dealer never batted an eye, but my other car that had LTH was well past the warranty period.

They would have to prove that the catted downpipes caused the issue. I know mine don't care much for an exhaust. It's engine work and modifying the ECU that'll get your warranty denied.

Yep and I'm not sure that you can do catted downpipes (presumably you mean HFC or high flow cat DPs) without an ECU tune. I really don't know why you would anyway since even DEcatted downpipes have shown hardly any gain over a tune alone - catted downpipes with a tune would show even less gain, and catted DPs withOUT a tune would presumably have little to no (10-15hp at the very best?) effect.

IMO the acoustic change is really not that appreciable to warrant the exorbitant cost of high flow cat downpipes. Even no-cat downpipes don't sound that much better IMO.

Gotta disagree big time, not necessarily about the hp but about the sound. Catless downpipes made my car sound night and day better without any other changes.

That's good to know, I have only watched videos which is the basis for my opinion. I'm yet to hear one in person, although I'm sure that sounds much different. How would you compare the sound of high flow catted downpipes to catless downpipes? Have you heard both in person?

Yes indeed, the online videos don't offer enough sound quality to really give a fair comparison. It's the main reason I haven't posted many videos or sound clips. I haven't heard one with high flow cats yet but I'm curious about that too.

You get much more noise and more hp with catless downpipes but I think you'll throw a cel without a tune. Without a tune in general your gains won't be as much. If you get high flow cats you won't throw a cel but your car won't be as loud as the catless downpipes. There will be an increase in sound regardless of which one you get but the catless one will yield the loudest sound and biggest gains.

I would guess electrical issues?

If the car is under warranty, they can't deny all warranty work.

Downpipes give them an out on a whole lot of pricey warranty work though,
