upgraded turbo source?
My car is currently at the dealer getting some work done that requires the engine to be removed. If I can source some turbos I may be able to have the dealer install them for me. Anyone know where i could possibly find just the turbos? I know weistec, ams and wrench would be upwards of $10K. If I can find them for a reasonable price I may end up doing it.

well u know who the big tuners are, as u have a tune already and u know those companies have researched data on their work, so pick one of those and just do that...

If i can't figure this out in the next couple of days i'm gonna miss the window of opportunity of upgrading.
The specs on the turbos in the link you sent states that its for a 1.8-3.0l motor. If I happen to find the right turbos would the install be as easy as removing the old and bolting on the new ones followed by a matching tune?

Benz uses garret turbos

i think each 3076 is for that many max liters ... hence two would max out at 6.0 liters
i can confidently tell you I have no idea what all is involved in the turbo install but fairbird and others on here can help ... pm them

my 2 cents...unless you are prepared to go with one of the groups who offer 'off the shelf' turbo upgrade packages (several of their names have already been spoken in your threads), I say hold off. Will take some real research/etc to build your own package.
As Peter mentioned, if you're looking to build your own setup w/ custom tuning etc, Fairbird and others are around.

thats per GTX3076R turbo, our car uses 2 so that means 2 can support up to 1280 hp
good luck on just bolting those on and getting them to work without lots of custom work $$$ (those are the same turbos on vasily's 1179 hp e63 from GAD and they are masters at MB tuning and took them a while to get the car to work right) As others have mentioned best route for daily driver is to buy an off the self kit and save yourself the hassle... If you dont mind testing/logging all the time and having your car down off and on for a while, and unkown end cost then go custom route

i would say at this moment the ams kit is the best bang for the buck... puts out about same hp as the renntech stage 2 kit at about 1/2 the price
you could give the guys at powerhaus performance in NJ as they have a kit for around $7K w/ tune

The main headache and pain with turbo upgrade is the fact the damn engine has to come out. since that is already done and covered I would be very tempted as well. If I was you I would consider renntech for the following reasons.
1. When you have multiple parts (software/hardware) and require help/support it's much easier if they are all from the same supplier. No blame game can be used
2. You already have a renntech tune, so they will re-tune for free and sort it all out for you.
3. They are semi dealer friendly in the states no?
might pay more , but you get peace of mind. I find I have gotten lazier as I have gotten older and prefer the hassle free approach more now
If you do this you must share your results, as we have a lot of people with tunes, but not many with the turbo upgrade posting. You can help infect us all to enjoy or suffer as much as you
