Question Exhaust tips recessed into bumper when car is off?

2011 E63 AMG. After driving the car for a bit, the exhaust tips "pop" out a bit and the "AMG" lettering becomes visible, however after shutting the car and letting it sit, the tips pull back into the bumper and the "AMG" lettering is no longer visible, any one else have a similar situation, never experienced something like this before on an AMG. thanks for responses!

There was another thread about this and it was attributed to normal thermal expansion of the exhaust system.

Yeah, it sucks tbh, because it would be really nice if they just poked out by 1cm more when the car is parked up and you walk up to it in the morning, but no....everybody else gets to see it looking good, except the person that bought the car

but when the exhaust tips are built into the bumper like current models ... some complain about the brand not staying true to its racing heritage by welding the tips onto the mufflers

cant win

Oh Sweet Lord, I'll happily take the strange expanding exhaust of the W212 pre-facelift over the newer style any day. I totally agree that for true enthusiasts, not having the pipes properly welded to the exhaust kinda kills it. I understand why manufacturers do it, but I'd happily do without the benefits to have a more 'authentic' hot rod.

That being said, I like the design of the thinner facelift exhaust tips....but really and truly, the C63 quad ovals are the best. Ahhh....which reminds me of my old E55....ahhh....good times...

I plan on installing a Renntech style diffuser sometime soon, and maybe Ill talk to the shop and see if they can do something about making the tips pop out a bit more.
